A tiny black and white picture underneath the large image shows what the painting used to look like before restoration. It was found that over time, other artists made additions to the painting, for instance, making the horse more elegant and even making the background a landscape instead of the wall you see in the large picture. Also, father time (behind the Prince) was though to be removed as it was thought to be insensitive based on the Prince's short life, dying only one year after the original painting's creation.
