This semester, I feel like I have grown more in self reflection. In the beginning of the semester, I never stopped to look back and or to think about things on a more deep note. Whereas now, I am more open to thinking more and finding out other solutions to problems. what caused this immersion was the constant requirement to do so. Having group discussions forcefully made me realize what other people were thinking and got me to become better aware of my improvement.

In reality, I believe that each book had somewhat of a similar theme. Otherwise, why would they have been chosen? In comparison, Tattoos On the Heart was focused more on compassion. Likewise with Fire In the Ashes. Both those books shared that similar theme. In other hand, I believe that Living Buddha, Living Christ relied on Understanding and took a more deep step in order to accomplish that. Yet, I feel like they all shared in a similar theme;self love.

Living Buddha, Living Christ was definitely the more impacting book in my opinion. It has taught me self love and self awareness and is actually the only book out of the three that I focused more on. I felt a deep connection with myself and the fact that we had taken a small trip to the temple, made me realize that no one is truly happy if all they think about is themselves. That trip will forever remain with me because it was a new experience, and it was full of mindfulness.

Reflection and Mindfulness

Throughout the semester, I have noticed that I have become more aware of mindfulness and self reflection all in one. I have practiced both more often and it has exceed my expectations in terms of it working. In my perspective, I think that living with mindfulness and reflectively is demonstrating a better character all around. It is not that easy to incorporate those aspects into your life, yet it is something that MUST be involved somehow. With that being said, having to fully incorporate this into your life is hard, especially with everything going on all at once and with so little spare time. Although, you must eventually have someone who pushes you to that point in which you stop and think. Therefore, having that person can always be helpful.

As the semester nears the end, I plan on taking more time in reflecting on what I did right and what I struggled on. That way, I can improve myself and come back stronger. Most importantly, my mind. I need to get myself straight for I have yet to find myself. I still feel clouded and without a purpose and therefore I must focus on that more. In order to make that mark, I must set time aside and actually get it done. Whether it is going back to the temple or meditating on my own. Reading helps too and that is something I plan on doing as well. Seminar class has definitely helped me in ways other classes made worse. For that I am thankful!

Max, I enjoyed reading your Padlet thoughts/reflections on the books of the semester! The Christmas theme got me in the Christmas spirit…thank you! You responded to each of the sections with honesty and self-reflection that said a lot about you as a person…that you are open to learning more about who you are and who you are becoming! Exciting possibility! This openness extended to our class discussions as well…you added to them and through this allowed others to learn from you! You are a person who, I believe, has a great future ahead…continue searching for the niche that is right for you…I am assured you will find it! I think you will enjoy graphic design. You are a creative person and this field will allow you to express this! I wish you the best as you work toward this! As I indicated, I enjoyed reading your responses to the questions. For the second section, Themes, I wish you had expanded your response to include support for your ideas, e.g. why compassion was the theme? Then, I noted several grammatical/spelling errors, such as in the Themes section In the other hand should be on the other hand, understanding should be in lowercase, and more deep should be deeper. In the Reflection and Mindfulness section, exceed should be exceeded. Then, try to stay away from using you in essays. Remember, it is important to double check essays, etc. before submitting them. If you have questions on any of these notes, let me know..
