Quality ECE experiences are important for the future of Nunavut because they help children grow into healthy, confident and capable individuals. Early learning supports children’s social, emotional, physical and language development during the most important years of growth.

Strong ECE programs also help preserve Inuit culture, values and Inuktitut language by teaching children through cultural activities, storytelling, land-based learning and guidance from elders.

Because children are our future leaders, they’ll need to get used to structured routines, being independent and ready for anything that interests them such as coaching, teaching, working and everything else that needs training. ECE experiences are crucial in Nunavut as our populations are growing, there will be more families (and even now) that are on the day cares waiting list. We are in need of more ECE members, it’s very important and they are short staffed/needing certified managers all over Nunavut.

-Angel Ruth

Quality ECE experiences is so important for the future of Nunavut because when the educators have more understanding for the growth and development of children, they will be able to help the child better, as all children are different and learn in different ways. Quality ECE experiences can also have a structured plan for the children’s holistic growth and development. It is so important because they are helping shape children into resilient, capable, and strong people as they grow and understand.

An example is when I was encouraging a child to keep trying when they tried to build a castle, but the castle kept falling. So I was asking them to try a different approach, and to show that they can do it if they put their mind to it. They are capable if they really want to do it.

-Lisa

-Lisa

Quality ECE is important for the future of Nunavut because we teach children most structures of learning while having fun, the children who are attending daycares have an understanding of what theyll do in school and be more prepared. Also teaches educators about how children developmental domains, understanding that each child is different and finding ways how to connect with each child in their care.

~Shania

It is important for children because they can learn to sing, count, having a proper routine before attending school years and it teaches them how to be independent. It is important as it can teach many things, some days it gets hard for the child especially when they feel sad and we try our best to help them feel better and understand that their parents can be busy with work. It is important that we learn the proper way of being and certified ECE as it teaches us the ways of discipline, how to help them with their emotions, help them and understand their way of development.

Hattie

It is important because as educators we are helping the children get ready for elementary school. We are teaching the children how to write, cut paper, colour, and other things they get to do in the school.

We are also helping children to become social, use their communication and language skills.

Having a schedule with children will help them to recognize when it is time to move on to the next activity in School, we are helping create structure.

We are getting these children ready for the future.

Hillary
