"Our country depends on agriculture, yet our classrooms are not teaching about agriculture." I appreciate that you brought up the importance of teaching skills and content that are practical and useful to the population you are teaching. Learning happens when students can actually apply what they know to something that is meaningful to them.

BE A COACH TO YOUR PARTNER!

Johnmary: I loved hearing about your background all semester long and you are so right, Uganda needs a teacher that is as passionate about helping them fall in love with learning and not just acquiring. Connectivity does not just have to be through technology. Agriculture--can be the avenue that you fit project based learning even when teaching literacy. Giving students the opportunity to learn practical things. Pushing yourself to be creative and imports "belief" into your teaching. Listening to students is the best assessment tool that you have. Be A Coach to your Partner--allowing kids take on the role of being the teacher. Peer teaching is a powerful tool. Technology is hard when you teach in a poor environment. Cars, gears, does not just mean internet and technology. *inferences started with the pictures and then moved to text: planning much and planning ahead *So powerful that you are learning about assessing before and after learning opportunities. *I love the video--way to push yourself to try something new. *Setting expectations high sets kids free
