Since most students are used to being in person and face to face with the teacher in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19. The coronavirus pandemic is a relevant topic that greatly influences students today. Students are having to face the challenges of the pandemic such as quarantining, family sickness, individual sickness, and limited social experiences. On top of all of that, students are facing the struggles of learning over a computer screen and being away from their teachers, distracted by their families, and dealing with technology issues. Students communicated messages in symbols as they drew a timeline to represent their answer to "How many days would Karen's hand sanitizer last?"

Speaking: "How many pumps of hand sanitizer does Karen use each day? Discuss with a partner." Students are using verbal speech to learn and communicate as they   work together to answer how many pumps of hand sanitizer Karen uses each day.

The students are communicating messages in their writing as they are sharing suggestions as to how they can make online learning go as smoothly as possible or a reason as to why online learning is important during this global pandemic.

Speaking:
"At the end of the activity, students will discuss what they wrote down with a partner or two!"
Students are verbally communicating their ideas with students as they are sharing their ideas as to how they can make online learning go as smoothly as possible or a reason as to why online learning is important during this global pandemic. They are also listening to their partner(s) verbally share their ideas to learning from their partners.

They also are viewing the image that their fellow students drew for them, which is a form of reading because students are making sense of the image to figure out what it is that has been making their classmate happy recently.

Students are communicating messages with the words that they handwrite on paper. Students are writing a letter that communicates a message to another student, sharing an update of their experiences in online school.
