A child knows what a bicycle looks like. It has 2 wheels, a person needs to ride it, has a handle.

Next time he sees a bike. He sees that it has 2 wheels, a person is riding it, has a handle. The Child thinks it's a bicycle because it has similar features.

But the mom corrects and says that it's a bike. And explains the difference. That a bike doesn't need someone to paddle it, has front and back lights, and works on an engine, needs fuel. So now the kid knows the difference between a bike and a bicycle

1) Children seeing the picture of a butterfly in a picture book. The child develops a schema of what a butterfly looks in reality, it is colourful, has wings, sits on flowers and flies.

The child sees a moth but thinks it's a butterfly. There is disequilibrium and the child furthers makes accomodation. It doesn't have bright colours, it is seen on walls, it has wings.

2) The child hears the mother say 'drink your milk' and knows the process of how to drink milk. In school some years later, the child learns spellings and then associates the process of drinking or 'drink' with the word d-r-i-n-k. Assimilation takes place.
