This would carry on the war because it would kill enemy forces and that advances in the war because if too many soldiers die and your country is getting destroyed by this overpowered country, then this would cause you to probably forfeit. Toxic gas was test for some soldiers, including James Smith, a soldier in the trenches,

Duckboards probably weren't known very well for how much they could actually help.
