But behind the house there’s actually a carefully cleared path up into the woods where generations of local children have processed with the solemn innocence of the young, taking with them later their dear departed pets for burial.

While she went away for a few days, Church got into a car accident and died. Louis (Ellie’s father) buried Church in the Pet Sematary where it is believed that if you bury a animal there, it will come back to life. So he buried the cat hoping that it will come back to life. When Ellie returns home, she sees Church, as if nothing happened to him. She does not know the series of events that happened as Louis is the only one who knows about the Pet Sematary. But soon after, the family becomes ‘cursed’ and Church becomes different. He is no longer the sweet cat the family had, instead, he scratches, bites and often brings dead birds back into the house.

Gage (the brother) got ran over by a car while playing at a birthday party and died. A few days later, Louis dug up Gage’s casket and dragged Gage to the Pet Sematary wanting to bring his son back to life. He has been living in the area for about 80 years. When the Creed family moved in, Jud, being a kindhearted neighbour showed them around the vicinity. When they reached the grave area, Jud specifically told Louis Creed never to go pass a bridge after the graves. Jud loved Ellie and Gage like his own grandchildren, reading them stories from time to time. When Church died, Louis went to Jud, not knowing what to do and whether to bury him. Jud, who knew how treasured and precious Church was to Ellie, brought Louis to cross the bridge to the Pet Sematary (which he initially said to never ever cross). This book has the ability to keep you at the edge of your seat, always eager to find out what will happen next. He also has a style of writing which is that he knows how to emphasise certain parts of the book to show you that the next part is going to be very exciting (leaving suspense and cliffhangers).
