Hi! I’m Anim from Alor Setar ✨. I’m an introvert, so I might be quiet most of the time but I enjoy writing, reflecting, and sharing my thoughts in my own simple way. For me, learning is not just about school; it’s about growing in character, faith, and life. That’s why I joined usrah, and this Padlet is my space to collect what I’ve learned.

USRAH WEEK 1 SUMMARY

For our first usrah session, we began with a simple ta’aruf (introduction) where everyone got to know each other. The facilitator also gave us a briefing on our upcoming assignments, making sure we understood the flow of the program. The session felt relaxed and friendly, which helped ease the first-week nerves.

After that, we focused on two main topics: Adab of the Qur’an and Adab of Seeking Knowledge.

🌿 Adab of the Qur’an

We were reminded of the proper manners when engaging with the Qur’an, such as:

Being in a state of wudhu before reciting.

Starting with Ta’awudh and Tasmiyah.

Reciting calmly and melodiously, not rushing.

Sitting in a respectful position.

Pronouncing every letter correctly.

Handling the Qur’an with care and respect.

Not placing other books on top of it.

Making it a habit to look at the Qur’an daily, even if just for a while.

📖 Adab of Seeking Knowledge

We also learned that seeking knowledge is not only about studying but also about discipline and sincerity. There are two aspects:

Outward Manners:

Preparing for class.

Taking notes and asking questions.

Extra reading and revision.

Inward Manners:

Having the right intention.

Setting clear goals.

Showing respect to teachers and knowledge.

Staying consistent in learning.

✨ Reflection

This session reminded me that usrah is not just about listening to lectures, but also about improving ourselves. The adab of the Qur’an made me realize that small etiquettes matter a lot in deepening our connection with Allah. Meanwhile, the adab of seeking knowledge encouraged me to study with the right mindset, not only for grades but for personal and spiritual growth. Overall, it was a meaningful start, and I’m looking forward to the next usrah sessions.

USRAH WEEK 2 SUMMARY

In our second usrah, the session was much more interactive and fun. We started with a quiz activity where each group had to pick a leader. The leader spun a wheel to choose a question for their group member. If the member couldn’t answer, the “punishment” was to sing in front of everyone! On top of that, each round got more challenging because the time limit kept decreasing, first 1 minute, then 20 seconds, and finally just 5 seconds to answer. This really made the learning session exciting and engaging.

📌 Main Topic: The Hadith of Jibril

The quiz and discussion were based on the Hadith of Jibril (Hadith 2, 40 Hadith Nawawi), which highlights the foundations of our religion:

Islam: Testimony of faith, performing salah, giving zakah, fasting in Ramadan, and performing Hajj if able.

Iman: Belief in Allah, His angels, His books, His messengers, the Last Day, and qadar (destiny), both good and bad.

Ihsan: Worshipping Allah as if we see Him, and knowing that even if we don’t see Him, He always sees us.

Signs of the Hour: Among them, a slave-girl giving birth to her mistress and the poor competing in building tall buildings.

✨ Reflection

This week’s usrah was both educational and fun. The quiz made us think quickly and pushed us to really understand the Hadith instead of just memorizing it. Personally, the part about Ihsan struck me the most, it reminded me that faith isn’t just about doing rituals, but about being conscious of Allah in everything we do. The competitive but playful vibe (with singing punishments and time pressure) also made the session memorable. It showed me that learning about deen doesn’t always have to be serious; it can be enjoyable too.

🌙 Introduction

Belief in Allah, the Angels, and the Divine Books (Kutub) are part of the Six Pillars of Faith (Iman) in Islam. These beliefs form the foundation of a Muslim’s life and guide their actions, values, and relationship with Allah. Without firm belief in these aspects, one’s faith is incomplete. Let’s explore each of them with more details and examples.

1. Belief in Allah (Iman billah)

Believing in Allah means acknowledging that He is the only God, the Creator of the universe, and the One who has power over everything. He has no partners, no children, and no weakness. A Muslim must accept Allah’s names and attributes such as being the Most Merciful, the All-Knowing, and the All-Wise.
📖 Example in daily life: When a person prays five times a day, shows gratitude for blessings, or remains patient during hardship, they are practicing their belief in Allah.

2. Belief in the Angels (Iman bil-malaikah)

Muslims believe in the existence of angels, created by Allah from light. Angels are pure, they never disobey Allah, and each has specific tasks. They are invisible to humans but play an important role in the unseen world.
📖 Examples of angels and their duties:

Jibril – delivered revelations to the Prophets.

Mikail – provides sustenance such as rain and food.

Israfil – will blow the trumpet on the Day of Judgment.

Raqib and Atid – record the good and bad deeds of every human.

3. Belief in the Divine Books (Iman bil-kutub)

Muslims believe that Allah revealed divine scriptures to His Prophets to guide mankind. These books contain laws, teachings, and reminders. The major books are:

Tawrat – given to Prophet Musa (Moses).

Zabur – given to Prophet Dawud (David).

Injil – given to Prophet Isa (Jesus).

Qur’an – given to Prophet Muhammad ﷺ, and it is the final book that remains unchanged until the end of time.
📖 Example in daily life: A Muslim reads and practices the Qur’an for guidance in worship, social interaction, and moral values.

🌟 Conclusion

These three pillars of faith—belief in Allah, His Angels, and His Divine Books—remind Muslims to always remain conscious of Allah’s presence, aware that angels record every action, and guided by the Qur’an in their daily life. Together, they strengthen a Muslim’s faith and identity, making them closer to Allah and better in their character.

🌙 Belief in Rasul, Qada’ & Qadar, and the Hereafter

Introduction
Among the Six Pillars of Faith in Islam, belief in the Messengers, Divine Decree, and the Hereafter play a crucial role in shaping the way Muslims live their daily lives. These beliefs strengthen faith, guide moral actions, and remind Muslims of their responsibilities to Allah and to themselves.

1. Belief in the Messengers (Iman bir-rusul)
Muslims believe that Allah sent Prophets and Messengers to guide mankind. They were chosen men, free from error in delivering the message, and acted as role models in worship, character, and leadership. Twenty-five Prophets are mentioned in the Qur’an, with Prophet Muhammad ﷺ as the final Messenger who brought Islam as the complete and final way of life. This belief teaches Muslims to honor the Prophets, follow their teachings, and emulate the Sunnah of the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ in daily life.

2. Belief in Qada’ and Qadar (Divine Decree)
This means acknowledging that all events, whether good or bad, happen by Allah’s will and knowledge. Allah has determined everything that occurs in the universe, yet humans are still given free will to make choices for which they are accountable. Belief in Qada’ and Qadar builds patience during trials, gratitude in times of blessing, and trust that Allah’s plan is always the best, even when it is beyond human understanding.

3. Belief in the Hereafter (Iman bil-yawm al-akhir)
Muslims believe that life in this world is temporary and that the Hereafter is eternal. After death, every person will be resurrected and judged by Allah. The righteous will be rewarded with Paradise, while the disobedient who reject faith will face punishment in Hell. This belief encourages Muslims to live with purpose, avoid sin, and prepare for eternal life by following the Qur’an and the Sunnah.

Conclusion
In summary, belief in the Messengers, Divine Decree, and the Hereafter shapes a Muslim’s worldview and character. These beliefs inspire Muslims to follow the example of the Prophets, trust in Allah’s will, and strive for success not only in this world but also in the eternal life to come.

🌙 Ihsan and Eschatology in Islam

Introduction
In Islam, the journey of faith is not only about belief but also about how that belief shapes one’s actions and outlook on life. Two important concepts that guide a Muslim’s spiritual and moral life are Ihsan and Eschatology (Akhirah). Ihsan reflects the perfection of faith and character in the present world, while Eschatology reminds believers of accountability and eternal life in the Hereafter. Together, these two pillars inspire Muslims to live a life of sincerity, mindfulness, and preparation for the life after death.

Ihsan
Ihsan literally means excellence or perfection. It is considered the highest spiritual state in Islam, going beyond outward actions to focus on inner sincerity. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ described Ihsan as “worshipping Allah as though you see Him, and if you cannot see Him, then know that He surely sees you.” This concept teaches Muslims to maintain full awareness of Allah in every action, whether in prayer, daily dealings, or moral conduct. A person who practices Ihsan will strive for honesty, kindness, patience, and humility, even when no one else is watching, because they are conscious of Allah’s presence. For example, a student studying sincerely without cheating, or a worker doing their job with integrity, is practicing Ihsan because they know Allah is aware of their efforts.

Eschatology (Akhirah)
Eschatology in Islam refers to the belief in the afterlife, including events that occur after death, the Day of Judgment, and the eternal destinations of Paradise and Hell. Muslims believe that life in this world is temporary and serves as a test. Every human will experience death, followed by the stage of barzakh (the life in the grave), and eventually resurrection on the Day of Judgment. On that day, every deed—big or small—will be weighed, and individuals will be rewarded or punished accordingly. This belief motivates Muslims to live responsibly, seek forgiveness, and constantly strive for good deeds. For example, avoiding dishonesty in business or helping the needy is not only good morality but also preparation for accountability in the Hereafter. Belief in Eschatology serves as a reminder that true success is not measured by wealth or status in this world, but by earning Allah’s pleasure for eternal reward in Jannah.

Conclusion
Both Ihsan and Eschatology are interconnected in shaping a Muslim’s life. Ihsan guides a believer to live with sincerity and excellence in the present, while Eschatology serves as a constant reminder of the accountability and eternal consequences of one’s actions. Together, they ensure that a Muslim’s life is filled with purpose, moral integrity, and spiritual awareness. By practicing Ihsan in daily life and remembering the reality of the Hereafter, Muslims can achieve true balance between this temporary world and the eternal life to come.

🌸 Adab with Family and Friends in Islam

Introduction
In Islam, good manners (adab) are the foundation of healthy relationships and a reflection of one’s faith. The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ emphasized that the best among Muslims are those with the best manners, especially towards those closest to them—family and friends. Having adab is not only about being polite, but also about showing respect, love, and kindness in daily interactions.

Adab with Family
Adab with family begins with honoring parents, being kind to siblings, and maintaining love and respect in the household. Children are commanded to obey and respect their parents, as mentioned in the Qur’an: “And We have enjoined upon man [care] for his parents” (Surah Al-‘Ankabut, 29:8). For example, speaking gently to parents, helping with chores, and caring for them when they are old are all forms of good adab. With siblings, showing fairness, avoiding jealousy, and supporting one another in times of need are also part of Islamic manners. Maintaining harmony in the family is seen as an act of worship because the family is the first institution where love, trust, and moral values are nurtured.

Adab with Friends
Friendship in Islam is based on sincerity, trust, and reminding each other of goodness. Good adab with friends includes greeting them with salaam, being loyal, keeping promises, and avoiding hurtful speech. The Prophet ﷺ said: “The believer is the mirror of his brother.” This means a true friend reflects goodness, corrects mistakes gently, and supports one another in faith and worldly matters. For instance, standing by a friend in times of hardship, encouraging them in studies or work, and protecting their dignity behind their back are all practices of good adab. Choosing righteous friends is also important, as they influence one’s character and deeds.

Conclusion
Adab with family and friends reflects the beauty of Islam as a religion of compassion and respect. By practicing good manners at home and among friends, Muslims build strong bonds of love, trust, and harmony that benefit both this world and the Hereafter. Ultimately, adab is not just about outward etiquette but also about sincerity of the heart—treating others with kindness for the sake of Allah.

This week, our usrah focused on the Acquisition of Ḥikmah (Wisdom).

We learned the meaning of ḥikmah, its connection with ʿibādah, niyyah, and amal, and how it helps shape our character and way of life as Muslims. Before we started learning this topic, our naqibah asked us to introduce ourselves. She also played a short game with us to see if we could remember our friends’ names. In addition, she briefly recapped the topic of ihsan that we learned during our Semester 1 usrah

🌟 Week 1: INTRODUCTION

Theme: Getting to Know Each Other & Discovering Hikmah from ‘Ibadah 🤍

🎯 Objectives

•To build a comfortable and friendly learning environment 🤝

•To introduce the concept of hikmah (wisdom & positive values)

•To help students understand how ‘ibadah shapes character and mindset 🌱

🧊 Activities

•Ta‘aruf Session:

Short self-introduction (name, hopes for the class, favourite ‘ibadah) 😊

•Ice-Breaking Activity:

Simple games or questions to encourage interaction and confidence 🎈

🌼 Key Discussion

•Meaning of hikmah in Islam

•Relationship between ‘ibadah and personal development

•How acts of worship nurture values such as patience, sincerity, discipline, and gratitude ✨

🌱 Reflection

This usrah reminded me that ḥikmah is not gained through knowledge alone, but through sincere worship, correct intention, and consistent good deeds. By practising niyyah, amal, and ihsan, I can slowly develop wisdom that guides my actions and strengthens my relationship with Allah.

True ḥikmah comes when knowledge is lived, not just learned.

Topic: Preparation of Salah with Khushu’

This week, our usrah focused on understanding Salah, Wuduk, Tayammum, and the meaning of Khushu’, emphasizing proper preparation to improve the quality of our prayers and strengthen our connection with Allah. Although this topic repeats what we have learned since elementary school, it was still very helpful to recall each aspect. Not only did it help us remember, but it also allowed us to revise our knowledge and relearn new meanings from the topic. During this usrah session, we also played a small quiz, which was very fun. Through the quiz, it helped create beautiful memories together and made the session more engaging and memorable.

🌟 Week 3: PREPARATION OF SALAH WITH KHUSHU‘

Theme: Performing Salah with Awareness & Sincerity 🌸

🎯 Objectives

•To understand the importance of preparation before salah

•To learn the correct rulings related to taharah and salah

•To apply Islamic rulings in different life situations 🧭

🚿 Key Content

💧 Taharah (Purification)

•Wudu’: Steps, conditions, and significance

•Tayammum: When and how it is performed

🧎 Salah

•Pillars (arkan) of salah

•Conditions for the acceptance of salah

•Importance of intention (niyyah) and khushu‘ 🤍

🛤️ Application of Salah in Different Situations

•Jama‘ & Qasar (during travel)

•Nawafil prayers (voluntary acts of worship) ✨

•Performing salah during illness or hardship

🌸 Reflection

This usrah reminded me that khushu’ does not begin at takbir, but from how I prepare my heart, body, and mind before prayer.

This week, our Usrah focused on Fasting & Its Virtues.

<sub>
We learned its meaning and purpose, as well as how it helps us grow closer to Allah by developing taqwa, patience, and mercy. Our naqibah explained every detail step by step, which made the session very easy to understand. Although the topic was not unfamiliar to us, her explanation added more depth to our understanding. The best part after the usrah was, of course, taking pictures together with our usrah family. This time, everyone participated in the usrah session, alhamdulillah.

🌟 Key Lessons from Fasting

• The Ayah on Fasting

Fasting is prescribed for believers as it was for those before us.

The purpose of fasting is to develop taqwa (mindfulness of Allah).

Taqwa means being careful to avoid what displeases Allah.

Practice: Control desires, be mindful of Allah, and improve daily behaviour.

• True Meaning of Fasting

Fasting is not only avoiding food and drink.

We must also avoid lying, bad conduct, and sins.

Good character is an important part of fasting.

Practice: Guard our tongue, actions, and manners.

• Virtues of Fasting

Sabr (Patience) & Self-Restraint

Patience in obeying Allah.

Patience in staying away from sins.

Patience during trials and challenges.

Levels of Fasting (Imam Al-Ghazali):

Minimum: Refrain from eating, drinking, and desires.

Intermediary: Protect eyes, tongue, ears, and hands from sin.

Optimal: Guard the heart from distractions away from Allah.

Practice: Try to reach higher levels of fasting by improving both actions and heart.

• Rahmah (Mercy & Empathy)

Fasting helps us feel the struggles of others.

Encourages sharing food and helping those who fast.

Feeding someone who is fasting gives equal reward.

Practice: Show kindness, help others, and share meals.

🌼 Reflection

This session reminded me that fasting is not just about hunger, but about improving my character and strengthening my relationship with Allah.

This week, our usrah focused on the virtues of Zakah and Sadaqah.

We learned the meaning of zakah, its purpose, and how it plays an important role in shaping both our spiritual and social lives as Muslims. Our naqibah also highlighted the importance of sadaqah for the Palestinian people, the Sudanese people, and others in countries that have been severely affected by hardship. She addressed a question that is often asked: “Why do we help people in other countries when there are still many poor people in our own country?”

Her answer was truly remarkable and left a deep impact on my heart. She explained that while it is true that there are people in need in our own country, we can clearly see and compare who is facing greater suffering and more urgent hardship. This made me reflect more deeply and become more aware of the responsibility we have to care about what is happening in the world around us.

🌟 Key Lessons from Zakah and Sadaqah

• Meaning of Zakah

Linguistically, zakah means growth, purification, and blessing.

Technically, it refers to a compulsory act of worship involving wealth, given to specific recipients.

Zakah shows that ibadah in Islam includes spiritual, social, and material aspects.

• Zakah as a Pillar of Islam

Zakah is the third pillar of Islam after shahadah and salah.

It is often mentioned together with prayer in the Qur’an, showing its importance.

It purifies wealth and strengthens social responsibility among Muslims.

• Virtue of Tawakkul (Reliance on Allah)

Giving zakah teaches Muslims to rely on Allah SWT rather than their wealth.

It reflects trust in Allah’s promise that He will replace and multiply what is given sincerely.

• Virtue of Ukhuwwah (Brotherhood)

Zakah strengthens the bond of brotherhood among Muslims.

It reduces selfishness and encourages care, empathy, and unity within the community.

It connects our relationship with Allah (vertical) and with others (horizontal).

🌼 Reflection
This usrah reminded me that zakah is not just an obligation, but a means to purify the heart and build a caring society. By practising zakah and sadaqah sincerely, I learn to rely more on Allah SWT, detach myself from materialism, and strengthen my sense of responsibility towards others. Through this, I can grow closer to Allah and contribute to the well-being of the ummah.

Zakah purifies our wealth, strengthens our faith, and unites our hearts as one ummah

Improvement 🌱✨
The usrah can be improved by encouraging more active and inclusive participation among all members 🤝💬. Everyone should feel comfortable to share their thoughts, experiences, and ideas 💭📝, so that the discussion can be richer and more meaningful 🌸. A clearer and more organised delivery 🗂️📖 can also help the flow of the session, making it easier for members to understand the content 💡🌿.
