I added this because, to be a successful singer songwriter, you have to get out your comfort zone, and there is no better way of doing that than standing in the city center singing your own songs, and getting a reaction from strangers who have never heard your songs. It is also a great way to gain followers on social media, which could possibly lead to paid gigs.

As a singer songwriter, I have to be able to communicate my ideas for songs to other musicians and that may involve classical artists so, having the music theory knowledge allows me to, writing a lead sheet with my melody. By doing this, I can give it to the other musicians and they can see what the music is and the melody I want them to play, its an essential skill as a singer songwriter, it saves so much time, and money when hiring out a recording studio. They can see what they are playing and go straight into it.

Blues music is in so many genres of music and understanding the structure of the blues helps me when it comes to my own songwriting, It adds one more tool for me to utilise when writing songs, Even the basic I-IV-V-I blues chord progression can add so much to my songs, but now I know where to spice things up, and that can be just by adding in 7th chords and adding in suss chords.

Understanding different key signatures, is an essential skill because, if I listen to a song and i get inspired to write a song because of that song, understanding how to identify the key signature by ear, makes the whole process quicker. And that is what i learned in this part of music theory class.
