         <title>🌍✨ Meet the “Eco-Explorers” from Mihai Eminescu Lyceum, Chișinău! ✨🌱</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Hello everyone! We are a dynamic group of teens from <strong>Mihai Eminescu Lyceum in Chișinău, Republic of Moldova</strong> – curious minds, big dreamers, and passionate change-makers. 💡</p><p>In the past, we’ve been part of the international STEM project <strong>“Connected through Science”</strong> in partnership with the <strong>Youth Science Academy in North Carolina, USA</strong>. Together, we explored how protecting <strong>water and soil</strong> can help fight <strong>global warming</strong>. 🌎♻️</p><p>🔬 In our <strong>chemistry classes</strong>, we tested water and soil for pH, nitrates, nitrites, and heavy metals.<br>🧬 In <strong>biology</strong>, we investigated why conserving water and soil is vital for life on Earth.<br>💬 And in <strong>English</strong>, we built intercultural skills – learning to connect, communicate, and collaborate with peers from other cultures.</p><p>We also had the privilege of working with <strong>Dr. Rob Condon</strong> and <strong>Anne White</strong> from North Carolina, joining both <strong>online sessions</strong> and <strong>face-to-face exchanges</strong>. On January 22, 2025, Anne White visited us in Chișinău, and our students of all ages prepared experiments to welcome her:</p><ul><li><p>🌱 Grade 9A – <em>Plant Absorption &amp; Photosynthesis experiments</em> (guided by Ms. Lilia Bîtcă).</p></li><li><p>💧 Grade 5C – <em>Be Kind to Nature</em> – discovering causes of water pollution in English class (guided by Ms. Elena Daraban).</p></li><li><p>⚗️ Grade 12A – <em>Preparing diluted chemical solutions</em> (guided by Ms. Violeta Druță).</p></li></ul><p>All these activities showed our curiosity, creativity, and teamwork – and Anne joined in with great enthusiasm!</p><p>👩‍🏫 <strong>About our teachers:</strong></p><ul><li><p><strong>Ms. Elena Daraban</strong> – our English teacher since 2011, passionate about STEAM and international collaboration. She has guided us in projects against global warming for four years and loves inspiring students to dream big.</p></li><li><p><strong>Ms. Violeta Druță (Chemistry)</strong> and <strong>Ms. Lilia Bîtcă (Biology)</strong> – our amazing science mentors, always ready with experiments that make us say “Wow!”.</p></li><li><p>Together, they form a <strong>super team of educators</strong> who make learning fun, practical, and impactful.</p></li></ul><p>✨ This year, as part of the <strong>STEAMing Across Borders Project</strong>, we bring together students from <strong>9th, 10th, and even younger grades</strong>.          <description><![CDATA[<p>In December, the STEAM DREAMERS team from PITL“Mihai Eminescu” in Chișinău implemented a series of educational activities aimed at strengthening students’ engagement in inclusive and innovative STEAM learning. Students developed an understanding of storytelling as a pedagogical tool, enhanced their scientific literacy through hands-on modeling of the animal cell, and connected theoretical knowledge with real-world applications during a study visit to the Franzeluța factory. The activities culminated in the creation of a thematic Christmas story entitled “The Living Cell – A Living Factory versus the Franzeluța Factory,” which fostered creativity, critical thinking, interdisciplinary learning, and meaningful links between science, everyday life, and cultural context.</p><p>Wishing you happy holidays filled with joy and cheer!</p>]]></description>

The classroom was filled with delicious aromas, laughter, and creativity as students prepared sweet homemade treats with care and excitement.          <description><![CDATA[<p><br/></p><p>We designed and built a moving car using only simple recycled materials. We used items such as cardboard, wooden sticks, bottle caps, balloons, straws, and tape to bring our ideas to life.</p><p>This activity was much more than just building a toy car. It gave us the opportunity to think creatively, test ideas, and work together as a team.</p><p>Discovering Science in Action</p><p>While testing our cars, we learned how air can create movement and how different forces affect speed and direction. We noticed that some cars moved faster because of lighter materials or smoother wheels. We also discovered that even small changes could completely affect the results.</p><p>Thinking Like Engineers</p><p>Before building, we had to plan our designs carefully. Some parts did not work the first time, so we had to rebuild, improve, and try again. This taught us patience, critical thinking, and how engineers learn through experimentation.</p><p>Creativity and Design</p><p>Every team created a different style of car. Some students focused on speed, while others wanted their car to look futuristic or colorful. Decorating and personalizing our models made the activity even more exciting and unique.</p><p>Using Math Without Realizing It</p><p>During the project, we constantly used measurements, compared distances, and checked proportions to make our cars balanced. Math became practical and meaningful because we could immediately see the results of our calculations.</p><p>What We Learned</p><p>This project showed us that learning is not limited to books and classrooms. By building something with our own hands, we understood how science, technology, engineering, art, and math are connected in everyday life.</p><p>It also reminded us about the importance of recycling and reusing materials in creative ways. Most importantly, we learned how valuable teamwork, communication, and imagination can be when solving problems together.</p><p>In the end, the challenge was both educational and fun, and it inspired us to continue exploring new STEAM projects in the future.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>STEM project</p><p><br></p><p>By creating this project, we learned more about game development, teamwork, and imaginative problem-solving while designing an exciting and entertaining experience.Our students worked in teams to create their own learning app prototypes. For this project, we created a Quizizz-style app about environmental protection. We designed the prototype on paper in the shape of a telephone and included different quiz activities and eco-friendly challenges for learners. Students invented creative ideas, designed colorful screens, and presented their app to other teams. Through this activity, learners developed their creativity, teamwork, communication, and digital skills while discovering how technology can support learning and environmental awareness.</p>]]></description>

We compared several everyday beverages to see how much sugar they contain and how different the results can be from one drink to another.</p><p>Throughout the experiment, we discovered how math and science work together to uncover useful facts about nutrition and healthy habits . This activity helped us become more aware of the effects of sugary drinks and encouraged smarter, healthier choices in daily life </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Our Storytelling Video Project 🎥</p><p>For this project, we created a storytelling video using the techniques and skills we learned this month. Our video combined creativity, storytelling, editing, and teamwork to present our idea in an engaging and original way.</p><p> Activity 1 – Video Creation</p><p>We created a creative video based on a topic that interested us. Our video followed a clear storytelling structure:</p><ul><li><p>Introduction</p></li><li><p>Intrigue</p></li><li><p>Climax</p></li><li><p>Conclusion</p></li></ul><p>We used different editing software such as CapCut and Canva to edit and improve our project. We also respected copyright rules by using safe music, images, and effects.</p><p>📝 Activity 2 – Storyboard and Planning</p><p>Before filming, we prepared a storyboard and a scene-by-scene plan. We carefully planned:</p><ul><li><p>Camera angles</p></li><li><p>Dialogues</p></li><li><p>Music and sound effects</p></li><li><p>Transitions and visual effects</p></li></ul><p>We included at least 3 advanced effects such as:</p><ul><li><p>Fade in / fade out</p></li><li><p>Zoom transitions</p></li><li><p>Text overlays and subtitles</p></li></ul><p>🎭 Activity 3 – Teamwork and Preparation</p><p>We worked together and shared responsibilities:</p><ul><li><p>Director</p></li><li><p>Camera operator</p></li><li><p>Actors</p></li><li><p>Editor</p></li></ul><p>We rehearsed important scenes and organized the filming locations, props, phone setup, and background sound.</p><p>🎬 Activity 4 – Filming and Editing</p><p>We filmed different scenes and focused on short, impactful shots to make the video more dynamic and interesting. After filming, we transferred all clips into editing software and added:</p><ul><li><p>Creative transitions</p></li><li><p>Audio improvements</p></li><li><p>Visual effects</p></li><li><p>Captions and subtitles</p></li></ul><p>Our goal was to make the video creative, clear, and memorable.</p><p>🏆 Activity 5 – Final Submission</p><p>After final editing, we submitted our project for evaluation and online voting.          <description><![CDATA[<p><strong>MODERN SCHOOL SPACES - FROM OLD CLASSROOMS TO FUTURE LEARNING LABS</strong></p><p>We studied an unused and uninviting corner of our school by taking photos and observing the space. We noticed that it was dark, empty, and not used by students. After speaking with students and teachers, we learned that many wanted a calm place to relax or read.</p><p>To improve the space, we designed a virtual <strong>green library corner</strong> in 3D. Our idea included books, comfortable seating, plants, quiet study areas, and eco-friendly elements made from recycled materials. We also made sure the design was safe, inclusive, and accessible for everyone.</p><p>We created two different versions of the space:</p><ul><li><p>a cozy green reading corner</p></li><li><p>a nature-inspired study zone with </p></li><li><p>flexible seating</p></li><li><p>music zone </p></li></ul><p>This project helped us imagine how a forgotten school area could become a peaceful, creative, and useful learning environment.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>🌸❤️🤍 As part of the international project “STEAMing Across Borders”, we had the wonderful opportunity to discover the beautiful tradition of the Mărțișor from Moldova and Romania.</p><p>We watched the creative video tutorials prepared by the Moldovan students and learned about the meaning of the traditional red and white threads — symbols of love, vitality, purity, hope, and the arrival of spring. 🌱✨</p><p>Inspired by this tradition, we created our own handmade Mărțișoare using creativity, teamwork, and imagination while respecting the cultural meaning behind this special symbol. 🧵🎀🎨</p><p>We proudly wore our Mărțișoare and enjoyed becoming part of a living tradition that connects people and cultures across borders. 🌍🤝</p><p>Thank you to our international partners for sharing this meaningful cultural experience with us! 💖</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Using creative AR platform Artivive we designed our very first AR projects .</p><p>Through this activity, we learned how technology can bring ideas to life by combining the real world with digital creations. Some students created interactive scenes, others added 3D objects, animations, or virtual storytelling elements. </p><p>In class, we presented our projects to our classmates in short 4–5 minute presentations, sharing our creativity, imagination, and digital skills. </p><p>This task helped us develop innovation, communication, and STEAM skills while discovering the amazing possibilities of Augmented Reality! </p>]]></description>
