I'd like to thank you for the inspiring event of USRN Online Forum. We are just starting to build-up a Service Learning program in our institution, and hearing about your experience is very encouraging. However, since we are at the begining we are still facing with a lot of difficulties with students, with academic regulations, and even with some professors that do not feel challenged by the project. I'd like to hear about the difficulties you've found in your way to the succesfull program you presented, and how did you manage to overcome difficulties on the way.

Thanks a lot for the work you all do on promoting engagement at university level.

Impressive how the lead presenter and each of the respondents provided guidance on how to build effective sesrvice-learning programs. I was struck also about how their experience suggests potential future directions for next-stage university S-L, elements of strategic vision going forward:

Reaching greater scale, increasing the number of students taking S-L courses
Growing the number of universities that require enrollment in S-L
Expanding opportunities for non-local S-L
Increasing inter-university partnerships to plan and manage S-L programs

What future activities should USRN do to help advance the service-learning programs of members and other institutions? How can USRN best complement the significant work of other international and regional networks on S-L?

I was very interested to the research findings that Grace Ngai reported on what PolyU students have learned through their participation in S-L. Appreciating that she had time to just give a small taste of PolyU's research on educational outcomes, what do participants in the Forum feel should be research priorities about S-L for our field going forward -- what questions? what methods?
