Morgan made the point that we have this belief that America is the best and is always the best when it is not true and I agree with that. We have a lot of improving to do. Tony made the point that we tried to make Native Americans look as dumb as possible when in reality they were really smart so that was a huge social archetype. Religion also played a huge aspect in the Thanksgiving story and every holiday which Marco touched on. Julian made the point that we are trying to redeem ourselves through Thanksgiving, but it is a lie and we should come up with something new to replace that which I 100% agree with. It is a cover up for the bad things that we did to the Native Americans.

There were people before them that have never been talked about.
-I agree with Marley when she says the textbooks make us think the Pilgrims and Native Americans were friends and they had a meal together. After reading this chapter we know that wasn't true.
-I enjoyed hearing what Marley and Jami both thought about what thanksgiving is like and how people aren't aware of what actually happened. It should be talked about more and when students are reading the textbooks in school they should be taught the correct things instead of learning about at school in later years.

I agree with Jami because Loewen described the settlers as white, making an assumption of who they were. Marley brought up a good question to show why some in the group though of settler differently.
Most believe the textbooks made them see a false perspective. Most thought of settlers as Pilgrims, and some were shocked Pilgrims wasn't a term until after Thanksgiving.
I agree with Jami because Loewen is trying to describe the false reality of the first Thanksgiving. Marley also brings up a good point that we should all be aware of what really happened. Jami also brings a good point that it is also about the harvest and how we should be thankful. I also agree with Warren because Thanksgiving should keep happening, but for different reasons.
I agree with Jenna because most settlers were white and from Europe, they though they were already above the Native Americans.
