To start off, the brainstorming and creative problem solving techniques in this clip to not follow a positive outlook and ideas are not accepted freely without judgment. "Brainstorming is the preferred strategy for generating potential solutions in many problem-solving situation." (Cook & Friend, p.118) However, as stated in chapter 5 of Interactions by Cook & Friend, brainstorming is used best when the other participants in the group perceive the problem is not particularly emotion laden. Best practices should be ingrained in all professionals as they collaborate with other colleagues and families. What I have learned is this process needs to be studied carefully and put into practice with a lot of care and patience. At the end of the day the team needs to be take into account why they are there and what the ultimate goal of working together is. I found that fostering an environment where everyone can participate and voice solutions without judgment is the most effective skill to put into practice. The final aspect that I find difficult to do is leaving out the emotional aspect.
