The Estates General is made up of three estates. The first estate is 1% of the population, Clergy and Church people. The Second Estate are nobles, they held jobs in government, army, and courts, they didn't have to pay taxes. The third estate was taxed heavily, and the king used the money for himself, they were only paid 50-20 cents a day. The Estates General broke down because the third were treated very poorly and wanted representation. The National Assembly was an assembly created by the Third Estate to represent their problems to the king. They wanted a voting system that would be fair and allow their problems to be fixed. The upper estates didn't like this because they knew the third estate would out vote them, and the tax money would go into fixing the problems instead for their own needs. The Tennis Court Oath was when the third estate refused to leave until they got a constitution for France. The king didn't like this so he imprisoned all of them.

The storming of the Bastille was when the commoners tried to rise up against the soldiers at the Bastille, which they succeeded in doing. The commoners were able to free the political prisoners and gain weapons from the armory. The whole reasoning behind why this happens was because the commoners felt that King Louis XVI was attacking their rights. People march to the Palace of Versailles because they are angry over the price of bread, and they're rumors that the Queen is hoarding all the wheat. The people are angry because they don't have enough money to buy bread for the family because of taxes. They rely on saw dust to use as their wheat because it's overpriced, and they don't have access to it. The legislative government was a form of government that the monarch will work with the people. It didn't last long because the royal family attempted to overthrow the government. The First Republic was lead by Robespierre and it starts the Reign of Terror. The Reign of terror was when Robespierre becomes corrupt, and began to kill anyone who spoke against him.

The Directory government consists of two houses, an upper and lower house. The lower house proposes laws and the upper house accepts them or vetoes them, but this form of government is later overthrown by Napoleon. Napoleon is a military genius, and graduates from the military academy at the age of 16. He conquers Austria, Prussia, Portugal, and Spain. He puts his family in charge of the countries he's conquered, but the natives to the countries don't like this because they aren't from the country. Napoleon has seven political changes, Napoleonic code, eliminates the estate system, freedom of religion, restores centralized government, increases reforms in education, better relationship with the pope, and sells territory in North America to U.S. The Napoleonic code made men stringer but deprived woman from their right, and reintroduced slavery. When he eliminates the estate system it allows everyone to be equal to each other. When he allows freedom of religion the people are able to express their beliefs and not have to be told what they can and cannot believe in. The centralized government allowed everything to be stable and people not to rebel. When education is able to be accessed it allows people to be smart in the decisions they make and educated about what's going on. When Napoleon sells territory to the U.S he uses the money to fund his campaigns. Napoleons legacy he leaves is France dominated Continental Europe. Napoleon installed his own rulers of conquered nations, and his made his own brother king of Spain.
