There are socially constructed beliefs that women tend to be better L2 learners than men. However, there seems to be a gender difference in language acquisition. Some examples are: women outperform men in some verbal fluency tests, and also women's brains may be less asymmetrically organised than men's for speech. Also, another difference is that women appear to be better at memorising complex forms, while men may be better at calculating the rules of composition.

Source: Saville-Troike: Introducing Second Language Acquisition, Chapter 4.

Learning agility is how we can find a way through a new situation without really knowing exactly what to do, drawing on past and present experiences to make sense of an unfamiliar situation.

It also means being open to new ideas and innovating rather than relying on outdated information. Agile learners seek new challenges, ask for feedback from others in order to learn and grow, and are reflective.

An agile learner has the mindset that allows them to continually develop their understanding, grow and use new strategies they have learned along the way, in order to prepare themselves to successfully navigate any future problems.

Source: Korsten, O.
