         <description><![CDATA[<p> The  information that stood out the most was the information on second hand trauma. One never realizes the impact of secondary trauma or vicarious trauma it may have on a counselor. Therefore, one must be cognizant upon receiving the information given from a victim and its possible lasting long term effects on the counselor. </p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>Thomas Skovholt, made a correct statement when describing how we have nothing to give if our glass is empty. It was a truthful and an impactful statement. As counselors we simply cannot assist in helping others if we are emotionally exhausted from heavy caseloads.  Counselor burnout can affect decision making and how a situation is handled regarding a student or a situation. </p>]]></description>

Once a counselor realizes they need support, they can seek out personal counseling, speak to fellow counselors, rest, create boundaries for work hours, eat well, and use calming techniques.</p>]]></description>
