"The Adena, and later the Hopewell cultures, settled and lived in the Ohio River Valley. This land includes parts of present-day Ohio, Indiana, Kentucky, and Tennessee. The name Hopewell comes from the area where scientists first studied the remains of the Adena and Hopewell cultures. This took place in 1891 on the Ohio farm of Mordecai Hopewell."

The primary source supports the secondary source because in the text it stats that, "Scientists have determined that the Adena and Hopewell lived in cone-shaped homes made of sticks, bark, and willow. They used clay and stones to ornaments and tools. They build the hut because they need shelter in case of wild animals will try to attack at night and use it for warmth."

"Some of the Paleo-Indians settled in the southwestern part of North America. These were the Hopi, the Navajo, the Apache, and the Ancestral Pueblo. The Ancestral Pueblo are sometimes called Anasazi."
This primary source supports the secondary source because in the text it stats that, "The Ancestral Pueblo lived in the southwest from around 100 to 1600. This area is now the states of Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, and Utah. When they first arrived, the Ancestral Pueblo were nomadic hunters and gatherers. Nomadic people do not have a permanent home. They move from place to place. The Ancestral Pueblo often lived in caves."

"Over time, the Ancestral Pueblo became more successful at farming. Their population grew. But much of their land was dry. They learned to bring water to the dry areas through irrigation. To irrigate is to direct water to places where it is needed. The Ancestral Pueblo used stones to build dams and reservoirs to direct and hold the water."
The primary source supports the secondary source because it stats that, "The Ancestral Pueblo were expert basket weavers. They also made many useful things out of clay found in the ground. They would mold pots, jars, and pitchers. The clay would bake and harden in the sun. They used their pottery for cooking and preserving food."
