My article was about how the idea of abolishing slavery came along. It was during the civil war and where fort Monroe was being used as a fort during the war. Three slaves escaped their owners. They went to the fort and began to establish camps near the fort. they were now known as country bands. The governor was aware of what was happening however, didn't put an end to it, not even send the slaves back to their owners. Lincoln didn't interfile with what the governor thought which sparked the idea of abolishing slavery.
