I will say in the beginning I was a fan of Daisy, but as we continued on with the book I found myself becoming annoyed with her. Now at the end I am pretty disappointed. I wasn't expecting the outcome, but that can show how she really wasn't in love with Gatsby and in love with the lifestyle that he could give her. It is unfortunate how Gatsby's dream was based on her when she turned out to be self centered and selfish.

In reality Tom and Daisy were both perfect for each other because they only cared about themselves and money. Daisy didn't truly care about Gatsby, she only cared because he had money. I agree with the statement that Gatsby cared for others but I think he was a great man because he rose from his poor position and made his life grand, regardless of how he got the money. I think that being a Great man is different than being a good man because one requires you to good things like being honest, unselfish, and does the right thing. Being a great man requires you to go after the things you want in life, in this case Gatsby went after Daisy even though she was married.

Gatsby was a mysterious man to many people and some thought he was great and other not. I believe that Gatsby was a Great Man because when he was with Daisy he was his true self. Then they separated and he was determined to become rich for her. So he is great for his determination for the one he loves and he died based on something he hadn't done.

I think Gatsby was great throughout the story. While he did involve himself with shady people like Mr. Wolfsheim he only did it to see Daisy again. He devoted his whole life to being with Daisy and to save her from Tom. He was very determined to accomplish his dream which ties back to the American Dream idea. He decided that being with Daisy was his "American Dream" and he did everything he could to achieve that dream.

I believe that Gatsby was great, not because of his lavish lifestyle, but because of how far he was willing to go for one person (Daisy). Most people would have given up. Whether or not that was good thing is debatable.

I believe that Gatsby was great, not because of his lavish lifestyle, but because of how far he was willing to go for one person (Daisy). Most people would have given up. Whether or not that was good thing is debatable.

I believe that Gatsby was a good man even if he was involved in some shady business, he truly cared for others and looked out for them.

I believe that Gatsby had his character flaws like many of the other characters. Despite his criminal backgrounds I believe that he is a great man as he was very determined to reach his goals in life. His determination can be seen as inspiring.

I think Gatsby is seen as great by some characters because of his extravagant lifestyle. Even after his death, I feel like some characters would only recognize the part of his life with fancy parties and large amounts of money.

Gatsby is great because of his ambition for Daisy which drove him to become wealthy. Most of what he did was for the dream he had with Daisy which I believe makes him great.

I believe that even though Gatsby has done sketchy things in his life, he was someone who knew what he wanted from life. All he cared for Daisy, that's why I believe Gatsby is great.

How much of Fitzgerald's life was reflected in the novel? Who do you think he identifies with the most?

Fitzgerald's life was heavily reflected in this book because it showed his party lifestyle and his tragic lovelife.

Gatsby is a reflection of Fitzgerald because of the same humble begins they share, they ambition they both had as young people to achieve something, and Daisy reflects Zelda, and the relationship between them is reflected in the story (not exactly on that scale, it is romanticized a tad bit).

I think The Great Gatsby is more about money because even when love was displayed there was money involved. For example, Gatsby tried to win Daisy over with his wealth. It seems like many of the relationships in the book surrounded money. Even Gatsby's dream was money oriented.
