Due to the presence of estrogen in COC, it causes fluid retention leading to weight gain by direct stimulation of renin-angiotensin system. Yaz causes less weight gain due to the presence of drosperinone, which structure closely related spironolactone, a diuretic. Hence, Weight gain is less seen in women taking Yaz.
