https://padlet.com/elizabethacallen/9wa7w2ny6de8 The element that my group identified is empowerment. We went through and found three criteria being: struggle, motivation and feminism. Basically for our songs to meet the criteria, we had to feel empowered by listening to a song. I was in charge of the struggle criteria and the two examples I used are Kesha's Praying and Logic's 1-800-273-8255. I further analyzed the song and found similar musical elements and that became the standard for that particular criterion. That was really the bases for all criteria, finding the common musical elements. Feminism was one of my favorites because it is so relatable for girls. So many Beyoncé songs empower women and that was really where our idea of empowerment came from. From there we were able to expand the idea.
