The celebration begins with the arrival of the teenager accompanied  by her father.  The girl wears an elaborate, elegant dress she has chosen according to her favorites in color and style, but still maintains some aspect of traditional dress.  The location, if indoors, commonly has its entrance specially decorated for the occasion. The father and daughter make their way through this front-door entrance while music plays  , and friends and families customarily give flowers ( frequently roses) to the father. After this, the ceremony of the waltz begins, in which the girl first dances with her father- or father figure- who passes her on to her friends and relatives. The ball  is customarily   divided into segments, between which various food dishes are served in order to allow the guests- usually close family members and friends- to unite and enjoy the celebration in the following order of events:
1. Entrance, which is usually accompanied by slow songs.
2. Waltz.
3. Entr'ee 
4. First period of dancing. 
5. Main meal course. 
6. Second period of dancing. 
7. Dessert and video playback of the recorded birthday with her friends. 
8. Surprise dance. 
9. 15-candle ceremony(optional). In this ceremony, the birthday girl hands a candle to the fifteen people she considers the most influential in her life. She often makes a speech, usually dedicated to each of the persons given candles. This ceremony is also known as the "Tree of Life". The 15 candles symbolize the fifteen years she has "left behind".  Each of the candles represent a special memory, a moment shared with each  person whom she invites to join the ritual. She expresses her gratitude to these 15 people, whom she will tell how each helped her.
10. Third period of dancing. 
11. Toast, cake-cutting, and a ritual where each female friend/relative pulls a ribbon out of a bunch. The ribbons all have charms on the ends except for one which has a ring.

This is the week that leads up to but does not include Easter Sunday, when Easter Sunday in the United States is celebrated. Semana Santa runs from March 29th to April 4th. The holiday begins on Palm Sunday(Domingo de Ramos), remembering the last days of Jesus before he was crucified. The day is marked in the town of Sucre by several religious processions. First is a procession of palm-leaf bearing believers, starting from the Cathedral and circling the Plaza before returning to the Cathedral for a sermon. The second, is a similarly palm-laden procession starting at San Sebastian and ending at the San Francisco Basilica, again followed by a sermon. The height of celebrations takes place of Holy Thursday when the churches throughout the city open their doors to a stream of believers who come to light candles, pray and sing hymns. In the Cathedral, the city's priests gather for mass to renew their own vows and to perform the ritualistic washing of the feet of hundreds of devotees. The Mass of the Lord's Supper is held later in the afternoon. Easter Saturday is a quiet time of prayer, as the resurrection of Jesus is awaited, with a solemn 
Easter Vigil held at 9:30 pm in the evening. Many gatherers buy wax candles to burn during the mass, some inserting five grains of wheat in to the wax to symbolise the five wounds
