Testing Cosmetics on Animals by Ruby Scharf

I chose this topic because it is something I feel strongly about.
Animals deserve the same freedom as we do. How would you like it to have deadly experiments done to you, NOT knowing you have a 50% chance of living?

Testing cosmetics on animals?

What - Animal testing is used to test the safety and hypoallergenic properties of products used by humans. The harm done to the animals has caused an uprising of animal rights activists, charities, etc.

Why - (50% of animals treated have died) Animals have ended up with many health problems IF THEY LIVE THROUGH THE TESTING. Its causing animal rights to rise to the surface. Testing is done on animals so human lives aren't at risk.

When - 2013 over 500 companies were certified animal testing free. 2009 European Union (EU) put a total ban on the sale of animal tested cosmetics, then in 2013 the same with Norway, Israel, Asia, India, and Sao Paulo in Brazil.

Who - The United States and Japan are frequently criticized for their insistence on stringent safety measures, which require animal testing. More companies promote animal testing than that do not. MOST cosmetic manufacturers SAY their products are not tested on animals, but they are also required to have met certain consumer protection laws… and they aren't certified….

Where - The United States and Japan are known for their extreme animal testing, there as the EU, Norway, Israel, Asia, India, and Sao Paulo in Brazil have completely banned companies who are not animal tested certified.

Rather we test on animals or not their will always be a human that will be the first one tested on. I found out that the FDA has said that 92% of all drugs that are shown to be safe and effective in animal tests fail on humans. That is a huge percentage and millions of these animals are killed while the same test didn't even work on humans.

Animals have a mind of their own...their own emotions and all. They are free and we should let them be so. It even sounds selfish for us to use them and their life for our own good. Its sickening that we are abusing life just for other people. The truly only peaceful creatures on this Earth are being abused everyday, thats only a complete reflection of our society.
