Consider what may be most appropriate and relevant as it is not possible or even warranted to demonstrate all rigour concepts in the same study. What strategies would you use to ensure these rigour concepts are incorporated?

The researchers need to be reflexive. Reflexive methods journalling, audit trail to document decisions, how your world impact on data collection. Triangulation (methodology, methods, theory and researcher). Data source triangulation include collecting from different participants such as IDU, guards and management. Researcher triangulation more than one researcher. Multiple theoretical perspectives, such as application of theory in data analysis. Methodological triangulation such as focus groups, observation, interviews.

An important ethical consideration is confidentiality and anonymity of the participant. In the design stage, they are vulnerable population, which we would need permission from the Corrections Dept to gain access.

During data collection (interviews, focus groups, observation) need to feel safe to disclose information, which rapport will need to be built to gain their trust.

Reporting of the findings, should there be any information (guards selling drugs) this needs to be reported. Think about the role of whistleblower or user (what is their position) and how the results will impact on them. However, that should not affect or withhold the report of our findings.
