Another persuasive argument why the population growth could have negative consequences is that there may be numerous environmental issues. According to O' Sullivan(2016), Australia is a dry continent with insufficient water resources and largely rely on the desalination. The upsurge of population, thus, may exacerbate the situation of water shortage. Additionally, the population growth may be accompanied by the increase of private vehicles since the public transportation can not always cater to the demand of daily commuting. Consequently, this may result in excessive emission of carbon dioxide which could lead to urban heat island effect. In light of this, population growth should not be encouraged in Australia.

According to O'Sullivan (2016), Australia is a country which has insufficient water resources. This meas that if there are much more new entrants coming into Australia, a greater amount of water will be consumed, which may finally exacerbate the condition of the water shortage.

Thus, the increasing population may render the shortage of natural resources more serious.

One main reason of disagreement on increasing population in Australia is the burden on infrastructure. Firstly, the growth of population could cause overcrowded problems in big cities such as Sydney and Melbourne. Furthermore, to satisfy the increasing demand, there should be more construction of infrastructural facilities such as hospitals and schools.

The population in Australia has increased stably recently, which stimulates the economy and meets the demand for labour; however, this may also have negative effects. This eaasy will argue that Australia should not significantly increase its current population. It will focus on the overcrowding in urban areas and the natural resource shortages.

In conclusion , Australia should not considerably increase its population. The excessive population growth may lead to overcrowding in cities and the shortage of natural resources. In light of this, the Australian government should coorperate with urban designers to plan a better living space for residents and encourage urban dwellers to move to rural areas with incentive policies.

In foremost concern about increasing current population in Australia is environmental impact, since Australia has 2440 million residents(Australia Census,2019). According to O'Sullivan (2016), there are insufficient water and fertile soil resources for such are large population. In addition, the problems of vehicle control and carbon dioxide emission are still in process of dealing, which have already influenced environment such as soil degradation, greenhouse effect and garbage disposal. Furthermore, the accomadation for potential immigrants may bother the government. The current urbanization spawl has caused many harmful effects, for example, it is hardly to see green area in Sydney city as the city is equipped with concrete building which dramatically destory the nature. Thus, allowing immigration policy to increase population is irrational.
