I've been working on creating data dashboards and data review structures for MTSS data for districts that are not ready/willing to purchase an vendor-provided data dashboard. The emphasis is on using data to:

• determine and identify individual student needs

• inform instruction and intervention

• measure student growth

• understand performance for different cohorts/populations/subpopulations

• gain insight into the effectiveness of systems in supporting students

• Unaware of the sources of data and what data is out there

• Collecting and sharing the data on our impact and participation is not always being shared at each of our levels in the organization AND what data points would show impact (achievement, participation, etc.)

• Data may be presented but not usable, able to literally extract it but then the ability to understand and read

• Districts providing data. Even verifying with the state, data is not accurate. Inaccurate measurements that drove data input.

• District buy in. If a district doesn't understand the model, they don't provide the data needed. Access to data and knowing which data sources are available can be a challenge as well. Relying on data we know, does not paint the full picture.

• Person in district pulling data may not be providing the best way to look at the data.

• Time. Supporting multiple school districts does not allow success for each district. Some districts do not have the capacity to analyze the data or pull it.

• Predictive modeling. What the needs are going to be. What can we do to meet these needs.

• Understand different management systems and what they can do. What data can we run off of these systems? Wanting to be able to understand multiple different systems such as Frontline.

• Unleash AI on data.

• Trying to help people recognize that data is an important number, but it cannot be looked at in isolation. There is more to the story than just a number.

• How to make the data meaningful for districts.

• Asking the right questions to address the foundation and the root of the problem.

• Provide different viewpoints on data to help support the needs of districts.

• Impower our teachers to use meaningful data.

• Impower all roles to see data as a tool.

• Break through to teachers that data is not personal but a tool to help drive improvement in the classroom.
