         <title>Evolution</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Evolution is the change of a species over time. The changes occur genetically as the genes mutate and/or change due to how they combine during reproduction which are then passed on to future generations. When an individual inherits a characteristic that gives them a survival advantage it tends to pass on through the population this is Natural selection. There are a couple ways you could see proof of evolution among species through living organisms. One way is homologous structures which is when different species have similar structural part but they have different uses. Another is vestigial organs which is when organisms have structures that seem to have no use but in other species they do. A final way is by the way species share characteristics during the embrocation stage which is known as Ontogeny recapitulates phylogeny.&nbsp;<br>Evolution has to happen due to four different way, these four ways are known as V.I.S.T. this stands for Variation, Inheritance, Selection, and Time. Variation is the Genetic mutations that happen to an organism that get passed on. These genes being passed on is Inheritance this happens through DNA and sexual selection. Selection is the struggle to survive and genetic drift that happens due to the organisms that don't have proper traits to live. Finally Time is genes passing through a species when a group migrates and when the gene flow shifts due to new organisms with new genes.&nbsp;<br>Finally the way two species have evolved are split into three groups, Divergent, Parallel and Convergent. Divergent is when two or more species become less a like. parallel is when two different species evolve similarly due to the life style, and finally convergent is when organism with different ancestors become more a like.&nbsp;</div>]]></description>

         <title>Ancestors </title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The elephant falls under that class of Proboscideo with is Greek for "Having a nose." Around 50-60 million years ago&nbsp; Moeritheriums are said to have been the beginning of the proboscideo, they were around the size of the common pig today. This is based on both morphological and biochemical evidence. Due to this manatees, Dugongs, and Hyraxes are the closet living relatives of today's modern elephants.&nbsp;<br>There has thought to have been 352 species of proboscideans but today there are only around two know living species the African elephant and the Asian elephant. Both are shown to be related to the mammoth.</div>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The elephant is known to be able to live on every continent except Australia and Antarctica. The elephant was able to do this due to it being able to adapt to certain environment, but when environmental changes happened relatively quick they could not adapt and soon began to die off. </div>]]></description>

         <title>How have Proboscidea Evolved?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>The common trend of evolution amongst proboscidea has been longer limb bones, large skulls, and teeth. As they have grown taller the trunks have grown longer. This is due to the fact their heads are so far from the ground it is easier for them to reach food and water with a longer trunk. This has also helped them be able to look for food and listen and watch for predators at the same time. </div>]]></description>
