The Battalion Tobias de Aguiar, was begun in 1888 and finished its construction in 1892, but on December 1, 1891 the building was occupied by police troops. The Tobias Battalion Aguiar, was the third Headquarters built in the then Police Corps Permanent. Authored by noted architect design Ramos de Azevedo and inspired by the French military architecture, style emerged in Europe in the first half of the nineteenth century, under the name of "Post-Napoleonic style".
