My experience is unique when it comes to gifted learners. I teach at a school that has only gifted students and all teachers are either already gifted endorsed, or working on their endorsement like me. When it comes to working with other teachers and collaboration I would say special education teachers are most willing to participate in collaboration with gifted learners. When it comes to 2E students they are such a key resource in getting to know my students, how they learn the best, and what I can do as an elective teacher to support my gifted students whether they're 2E or not. General education teachers at my school are extremely proactive in collaborating as well, being that 90% of them at my school are gifted endorsed.

Based on the readings

Based on the readings this week I came to several conclusions:

Gifted teachers are most likely to participate in collaboration, co-teaching, or coaching when it comes to addressing the needs of gifted students because that is their area of expertise. When it comes to teaching, gifted teachers are used to differentiating instruction, and they are trained in flexible instruction & differentiation. Gifted teachers overall goal is to challenge and enrich their students, which makes them eager to help other teachers when it comes to collaborating to benefit our gifted learners. When it comes to teaching and culturally responsive practices, I believe that gifted teachers have a better understanding of what it means to teach students with diverse needs in the classroom.

General education teachers when provided with professional development, accommodations, and modifications for gifted students would be able to collaborate effectively.
