         <description><![CDATA[<div>A kidney regulates ion conecntration( sodium, potassium, calcium) and prevents them from reaching toxic levels. <br><br>It aids in the production of hormones, like renin which controls salt, water balance and blood preassure.<br><br>They are involved in regulating plasma calcium and glucose levels, which keep the body healthy. <br><br>Another function is the excretion of wastes and toxins, since they filter out a variety of water solvable waste products into the urine for excretion.<br><br><br></div>]]></description>
