In the test-tube with HCI we started to smell a subtle strange smell. In the Lab day we only noticed this change. After one week more or less we saw that the test tube with pepsin and HCI had almost digested the food and had changed the color a bit. The other test tubes have ingested a bit the egg but nothing so far. Almost all the test tubes had a very bad smell.

First we labeled test-tubes A, B, C and D and we placed them in a test-tube rack
Then we cut boiled egg into small pieces and we put 3 of them in each test-tube
Later we add 10 ml of pepsin with a graduated cylinder into the test-tube A
We repeat this process but with 5ml of pepsin and 5 ml of water into the test-tube B. Between the addition of pepsin and water we rinsed out the graduated cylinder.
After that we clean the graduated cylinder and we add 10ml of hydrochloric acid into the test-tube C
Later on we add with a clean graduated cylinder 5 ml of pepsin and 5ml of hydochloric acid to test-tube D
Before finishing this experiment we obtained four strips of blue limtus paper and we dipped it into each solution
Finally we observed whether or not an immediate reaction takes place and of what colour did the paper turn

1. Interpreting Data:
Which materials were the best at digesting the egg white? What observations enabled you to determine this?
The best materials at digesting the egg white were pepsin and HCI together. I enabled to determine this because after a week the white egg on the test tube with pepsin and HCI was the most digested one.

2.Inferring:
Is the chemical digestion protein in food fast or a slow reaction? Explain.
It's a slow reaction because the food in this process spends between 5 and 9 hours.

3.Controlling variables:
Why was it important that the cubes of egg white all be about same size?
Because if they weren't the same size, the bigger ones would digest slower than the small ones and would affect to the result of the experiment.

4.Drawing conclusion:
What did this lab show about the ability of pepsin to digest protein?
This lab show's that pepsin is the substance that works the better digesting food but if we didn't add the HCI it won't be able to digest the egg white because the HCI activates the pepsin to make it digest the egg white.

5.Communication:
Write a paragraph in which you describe the purpose of test tube A and test tube C as they relate to the steps you followed in the procedure.
The purpose of the test tubes is to observe the egg white cubes to determine whether an immediate reaction takes place. In the case of test tube A is to see if with only pepsin was able to digest the egg white and in the case of test tube C if with only HCI was able to digest the egg white. We saw than in the both cases it hasn't been possible to digest all the egg white.

I will take two test tubes, in both ones I would put the same amount of pepsin and HCI (50% of each one and also enough liquid to cover the big egg white cubes on the second test tube). n the first one I would put five small cubes of egg white and in the second one five big cubes of egg white.
I think that the smaller pieces will brake down first than the big ones, because the pepsin and HCI would have to penetrate more to arrive to the center of a bigger thing than an smaller one. Is like when you bake a small cake and a big cake the small cake will be done first than the big one.
