Evidence: the picture shows the plate which contains the amount and what food Chinese, malay, Indians eat, their diet doesn't consist rice or noodles but a simple diet of fish,tofu, long beans and sweet potato

Inference: Malay, indians and chinese ate differently and some don't even have enough food to eat

Evidence: the picture shows the variety of the different races eating, the indians ate more substitutes food than the chinese and the malays. inference: there was not enough food to feed the amount of teenagers and teenagers who needed to eat.

evidence: the picture shows that there is a lot of people and teenagers, and in the food holder, there was little food to feed the people needed, the food was just rice.

Inference: the people and teenagers were thin and slim as there was not enough food to feed the necessary people, even the people giving out the food was slim.their diet simply contains rice.

Inference: Teenagers struggle with food as the Japanese took over it and the food dried up due to shipping and teenagers started to go low on food.

evidence: the picture shows that the Japanese took over the food and dried it up due to shipping, so their factory runs on raw materials, therefore, one meal can average of 158 grams of rice.

inference: during the war, there was a shortage of food and teen suffered to eat very little.

evidence: this picture shows that the people ribcage were spurting out and they were very thin, their bowl or plate are were small to store little food to eat.

Inference: Teenagers had to survive by eating every last bit, even a fruit called Cempedak, the japenese took the locals food, living little for them.

Evidence: the picture shows that people eat anything that lays in their hands, even every part of the fruit Cempedak was eaten, they find ways to make it edible. The skin, seed and the shells were eaten. that's how teenagers live everyday in their lives, saving every last bit of food to eat.

inference: food was scarce, but teenagers overcome the odds and try to survive by what they have. Even though, money, food was hard to get, food can be gotten from corps and money can be earned from jobs.

evidence: the picture shows that even though food was scarce, people still managed to get food in ways like corps. As a result, many people live in hunger and suffered from malnutrition.

Source 1 tells me that " people had little food to eat everyday and they have just a simple diet". source 2 also supports the point as it shows "many people were waiting to get rice and their food just consist of rice, many people were also thin as they had very less food to eat". , with limited food, locals were forced to grow their own food such as cabbage, carrot and sweet potatoes.
Thus, it shows that the teenagers faced hardship as they were not able to attain proper food.

After the Japanese Occupation there was still food shortage. But slowly people get food to feed themselves and sell it for money. As a result, the people had to live in hardship to wait for food and have the money to start a new life or diet again.

Source 3 tells me that " even though the Japanese occupation  has ended, there was still little food for people and they strave sometimes even malnutrition" with the shortage of food, people had to wait and slowly start a new life while they suffer from hunger.
