Today i defiantly feel as is i have improved my photography and editing skills on photoshop. Today i completed the secondary research of my FMP project where i used a book to get an alternative idea opposed to a webpage. By doing this I gained an understanding of the things i plan on using for my production task.

•How did the activities help you to improve your secondary research skills? Give examples; refer to your tasks and specific documentation.
I have always usually used webpages for research which can get very basic and consistent however today i used a book called 

Producing and Directing the Short Film and Video. 


•What problems did you face and how did you solve them? Give examples and justify. The main problem i faced was finding a book to write about. i looked in the library and there weren't any so instead looked on the internet for a PDF of a book which turned out very good.

•What new  research techniques did you learn or improve? Give examples and refer back to your personal targets on Showbie.
My Personal target for today was to get a better understanding of what my FMP project should be made up of and it went very well because now i know about how to use the camera to show a lot more story in a short amount of time.

The main problem was Vox pops which was expected because it was going to be with the unsuspecting general public. 

The first thing we did undergo one to one interviews which we chose to invite a member of staff of the college to help us with because we knew he had slot of previous experience with horror movies! This went absolutely amazingly because we got so much feedback about our ideas. One of the questions we asked was "do you think jump scares are important?" To which he told us "it is lazy to put lots of scares in because it shows you can't build tension" over all the interview was very useful and it has seriously made me think about the kind of shots I will include in my FMP.

Secondly we did out Voxpops which didn't go as well, after asking several people in the street to have a recorded interview who all replied no, we asked a teenage girl who was passing by and she was okay to help, she was very nervous. She only gave us one word or short answers but it still gave me and idea. That was a lot  less successful and I hope to get some more useful people next time. 

Lastly I did a focus group with Sam and Daniel and that went amazingly. The people we interviewed had a great understanding of the kinds of things we can improve and how we can use, for example we was told that music was vital to building tension. We was also told to use drum beats and string music to put the audience on edge.

Today we got in and out tutor gave a presentation about our meeting minutes because previously we haven't been as strong in this category. This was very useful because she adviced we write out in as much detail the amount of work and conversation gets done so that we get credit for the work we have done! This has showed me how to be more professional and has improved me paperwork skills.

Then we moved onto gettting the production schedule done which Daniel did but me and Sam sat and spoke through the plan and timings so it was easier to get the work done! This was good because now we have a plan which we can use and follow because previously I have get behind because of not following the schedule. This will help me in the long run to achieve me final target and hit the deadline ontime.

Lastly I began mind mapping my ideas with the group to get out all of my creative initialtive. Firstly we spoke about masks for the clown which we would need which was interesting because we all had the same rough idea of what we wanted so I went onto amazon and look for some where we found some inspiration. Another thing we discussed was the editing of the piece because of the lighting problems. Thankfully our editor is very experienced and will be able to darken a light scene to follow the horror genre. In total we got 7 documents done including the meeting minutes, equipment log, contingency plan, script, and risk assessment. personally i completed the contingency plan and risk assessment which where very wordy. I found the conspiracy plan quite hard to get my head into because its hard to thing of things when they aren't in an ideal world.for example when i wrote about the location problems then i struggled to see how it could go wrong because it never has before but then i just had to think about what could hypothetically happen and thats when i knew what to write. overall i found that very hard because i need to put myself in a position which i haven't ever been before but its just a case of thinking what could happen and going into detail from there.
