Reader - "Why are you proud to be a Filipino?"
Me - Why not?
There is nothing to be ashamed of when being a Filipino, and there is just nothing to hide.We Filipinos can experience the different environments and just happen to be adapted into them so easily. We live in an amazing country with popular tourism spots, beautiful culture, and spectacular views! It is also a country rich in natural resources like beaches, oceans, volcanoes, mountains and many more that help the nation make it an important economy in the region.

We can endure whatever hardships that come our way,but at the same time we cannot do it alone.

What I am proud of most is that,we are always optimistic, in other words positive.Even if how sad we Filipino's are, like after a natural disaster,we will always be strong and still show a smile on our faces at the end.
Sri Lanka or what you call Ceylon! by Thanumi

Yes, I am very proud to be a Sri Lankan.
You might haven't noticed my country on the world map since it is really small. But it exists, just below India. Wait a second! Did I just go out of the topic?
Let me get back to the topic. Did you know that our country is called "The pearl of the Indian Ocean" because of its natural beauty? Sri Lanka is also called "The Tear of the Indian Ocean" because of its shape and location. And it is also known as "The nation of smiling people," because we smile a lot! Well, I am a good example of that. How can I not be proud of those beautiful names?
What did you say? Is that the only reason I am proud to be a Sri Lankan? Of course not. We have a well-known female runner Susanthika Jayasinghe. She really runs as fast as wind. She won many medals for our country during Olympic Games and brought pride to our country.
But our professional cricket players’ achievements can also not be forgotten. Sri Lanka registered its first ODI win against India at Manchester, England in 16 June, 1979. We also won the 1996 Cricket World Cup. We were co-champions in 2002 ICC Champions Trophy and we also became five times Asian champions in 1986, 1997, 2004, 2008 and 2014, which makes me feel so proud.
Do you drink tea? Sri Lanka is renowned for its high quality tea and is the fourth biggest tea producing country globally, after China, India and Kenya. It is best known in the world market for the production of tasty, traditional tea. Our pure "Ceylon Tea" is considered as some of the finest tea produced anywhere in the world!
I almost forgot that indigenous medicines are a huge part of our culture. Believe it or not, our traditional medicines can save many people's lives! No wonder, those are fully made from the resources of the nature, such as, leaves, roots, fruits etc. Very honestly, our traditional medicines can beat all the modern doctors’ medicines, and help people cure their diseases like cancer. If you ask me how, I think that is the miracle of the nature!
And last but not the least, I am proud to be a citizen of an independent country. After many years of struggle, our country gained independence from Britain in February 4, 1948.
Which country you are from? Are you proud to be a citizen of that country? I don't need so much details, just give me one reason when you comment about my post!

Land Of Smiles! by Thunyamas

Thailand is known as the Land of Smiles. It is also known for its beautiful places and unique culture, which makes me feel very proud of being a Thai.
I am proud to be Thai because Thailand is located in Southeast Asia and has a lot of beautiful places to visit. Even though I’m Thai, I still visit many places again and again because I find them very attractive.
I live in Bangkok which is the capital city of Thailand and offers a lot of tasty food which I love to eat. Since Thailand is very well known for its foods like tom yum, som tam, and a dish called Pad Thai, foreigners love to eat our dishes.
I also feel proud to be a Thai because of its unique culture. Greeting is an important symbol in our culture. When you greet people, you have to smile and ‘wai’. ‘Wai’ is a tradition on how you greet people or pay respect. It is like an international symbol of shaking hands or bowing. When you ‘wai’, you need to put your palms into the shape of a lotus. Also, Thai people respect elderly and almost everyone by saying ‘ka’ or ‘krub’.
The last reason why I am proud to be a Thai is that, we had a great king, King Bhumibol Adulayadej, who has recently passed away. We Thais loved our king. We always considered him as our ‘father’ and our queen as our ‘mother’. Our king put his efforts on developing the country. He was different from other kings around the world. This is because he always thought of us. He discovered ways to help improve the soil and fight drought. He was the heart of Thailand. Even though he is no more with us, he will be in our hearts forever.

The 5 biggest islands are Papua New Guinea, Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Java, and Sumatra.
Indonesia has a lot of active volcanoes, including Krakatoa and Tambora, both famous for their eruptions in the 19th century.
Indonesia has some very interesting achievements like it was able to fight the Dutch without any other country’s help! Later the Dutch recognized our independence in 1945.
Indonesia was the first one to launch and operate its own satellite.
Indonesian team was also the first Asian team to qualify in FIFA World Cup in Dutch East Indies.
Indonesia has a tropical climate, and it supports the world's second highest level of biodiversity, after Brazil and its rainforest, Amazon.
How Proud I Am To Be A Japanese! by Rit

Hi! I come from Japan and I am very proud of my country.

If you are asking why am I so proud of being a Japanese, the answer is that there are many reasons. One of which is that Japan is very advanced in technology. What to talk about the recent inventions like Video camera, Digital camera, DVD, CDs etc., let’s go back to WWII. In WWII, Japan made the world’s most powerful airplane of that time. Japan was also the most powerful country in Asia in that time! For me the reason behind this success is that we Japanese are a very hardworking nation.

I love to play soccer and I feel so proud that Japan won the world cup in soccer 4 times in 1992, 2000, 2004 and 2011!

Have you ever heard of ‘Katana’? It is a sword that can cut through a lot of things. It can cut through even a 0.6 mm steel plate. And yes Japanese were the ones who made this powerful weapon during Samurai period (15th century). By the way, my brother has a small Katana called “Ko-Katana” which he uses for arts and crafts.

I love to eat Thai food but I consider Japanese food to be very delicious. It also has lots of health benefits. And I think that is the reason that our traditional cuisine has been added to the United Nation's cultural heritage list.

Whenever I visit my country I love to travel by bullet train called “Shinkansen”. It was once the fastest passenger train when it was released. The Shinkansen goes all around Japan. It also goes to the different main islands of Japan.

Speaking of islands, Japan is also full of amazing tourist attractions. For ex, Himeji, Kyoto, Osaka, Tokyo, etc.

So these are just a few things to be proud of being a Japanese.

What about you? Which country are you from and are you proud to be from that country? Write your comments in the comment section below.

Information Credits:

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Japan

http://japantravelmate.com/best-of/50-things-to-do-see-in-japan
