In the end they achieved their aim as Germany paid massive reparations of 6.6 Billion pounds to compensate losses of Allies. France wanted total blame to be put on Germany and in the end, Article 232 the War Guilt Clause was put on Germany to bear full blame. Furthermore, France wanted to disband the German army to ensure that Germany did not have enough strength to attack France again. In the end, German Military got reduced to 100000 men, 6 battleships, no air force, no tanks, no submarines and a demilitarised Rhineland. Lastly, France wanted to claim German Territory and regained Alsace - Lorraine.

There were also huge reparations on Germany which would weaken the German economy like France had wanted. The German Military also were severely affected and the rhineland had to be de-militarized, while they downsized on an army to one of 100000 men, which would make France achieve their aim of having a Germany not strong enough to attack France again.

However, France did not achieve their aims as they did not want for a legue of nations to be formed but it got formed anyways. They had no submarines and their armed forces were far below pre-war levels. Thus, they could not threaten Britain anytime soon and Britain's goal of defending itself was achieved. Britain also wanted to reduce the serverity of Germany's punishment as they wanted germany as a trading partner. Although the British Government could make it obvious, they tried to reduce the severity of Germany's punishment behind the scenes and succeeded.

Germany was also recovering from post-war and signing the treaty would make them lose a lot of money and land. This would affect their rate of economy and potentially cripple their economy. should Germany sign the treaty, they would also agree to being weakened to well below pre-war levels, which took away their ability to defend themselves. Therefore their objections are valid

It was only partially responsible for escalation but not for the whole war. Additionally, it is especially unfair that Germany's right for basic military defence has been taken away because they would not stand a chance when trying to protect themselves with such a weak military. Germany was not even given the chance to negotiate so they had no choice but to accept those terms or else they would be invaded. The reparations in my opinion had the biggest impact because the innocent civilians had to suffer because of their government. And with a severe lack of money, they cannot rebuild their country and military and meet the basic needs of civillians.

The treaty may be harsh but it is needed to ensure that Germany does not rise up again and start another war. Reparations are valid so as to pay for the damages they have caused. German disarmament was valid so that Germany would not have the manpower to start another war again. Germany's exclusion from the League of Nations is also valid as it was only for victors of the war; and naturally Germany would not want to be part of a group of their enemies

Germany’s struggles due to the Treaty of Versailles were evident, consisting of financial problems to the shortage of manpower, territories and defense. Therefore, Germany’s powers were greatly subdued, bringing about shame and bitterness from the people as they felt that the conditions were unjust since they refused full blame of the war. This led to the easy exploitation of the Germans by Hitler and his Nazi party as they were able to make use of the peoples powerful resentment and injustice to gain support for their cause. If the Allies had been more lenient in their terms, much less hatred would have bubbled within their country, preventing another war that plagued many countries and destroyed millions of lives.
