- Bryson understanding the wilderness and bringing it to the idea of loneliness and the isolation it brings.
- The wilderness gives people incredible feelings and it is shown in his description.
- Why doesn’t Katz take up on hiking and just settle down?

- People often hiking in sections and in full go’s, they are called section hikers and thru-hikers.
- The description of trees in chapter 10 is very vivid and we didn’t know that they lift hundreds of gallons of water in the atmosphere each day.

Discussion Highlights:
-Bill questions the idea of driving instead of walking due to the fact that walking is much more rewarding and enjoyable to Bill.
-Bryson and Katz take a cab to Shenandoah National Park for their last part of their hike.
-A group of animals surround their tents as they try to go to sleep.
-Katz carries around nail clippers inn case another bear comes by.
-On the second to last day of their hike, Katz nd Bryson get caught in a major thunderstorm. This cause them to settle down for the night while they get obnoxiously drunk.
- After they return home Bryson continues to go on hikes everyday but it feels weird for him to go on hikes and then just return home. 
- Bill Bryson continues to have an irrational fear of bears ever since they surrounded his camp setup.
- Bryson talks about how he enjoys hiking in countries other than America because America has a weird representation of nature.

-As they approach the summit, it becomes damp and gusty. As they get higher, the weather gets chillier. Eventually he is soaked all the way through 
-Bryson begins to feel weird but doesn’t want to tell Abdu
-He starts to feel better and eventually reaches the car
-Bryson and Abdu attempt to tackle mount washington
-Bryson’s wife drives the to Maine
-The travel starts out slow due to the packs that they haven’t worn in months
-Bryson goes ahead t make camp but Katz doesn’t show up. He goes out and finds his eyes glazed over and back empty
-Bryson goes out to get water and finds a moose staring right at him
