Because of the color of his skin, he was denied entry into Major League Baseball, so he began his career in the Negro Leagues in 1926.  He was the first black pitcher in the American League, and the first representative of the Negro Leagues and it will soon be introduced to the Baseball Hall Of Fame.</description>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Leroy Robert, also known as "Satchel" Paige, was born on July 7, 1906 and he died June 8, 1982.  He was a great pitcher in the Negro Leagues in the 1920s and 1930s. He was known for his incredible skill an on the field, and he was considered one of the best pitchers of his time and some people even called him legendary.<br><br></div><div><br>Paige was denied entry into Major League Baseball because of the color of his skin, which was a common practice during the era of segregation in the United States. However, he was able to make a name for himself in the Negro Leagues, where he played for teams such as the Pittsburgh Crawfords, the Cleveland Buckeyes, and the Kansas City Monarchs.<br><br></div><div><br>In 1948, Paige became the first black pitcher in the American League when he signed with the Cleveland Indians. He played for the Indians for several years, and also pitched for  the teams.<br><br></div><div><br>Paige is considered one of the best pitchers of his time and his contribution to baseball has been recognized by many, he was inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame in 1971. He is also considered one of the most prominent figures in the history of the Negro Leagues, and his legacy continues to be celebrated and remembered today.</div>]]></description>
