Enduring hardship but demonstrating courage and perseverance, Harriet is sustained by her belief in a protective God who wants her to survive. Her strong moral and spiritual compass leads her to return to the South to free her family, and then help more than 300 people escape to freedom by way of the Underground Railroad. Although this is a fictionalized account, <em>Moses</em> includes a foreword about slavery and an author's note about Harriet's life.</p>]]></description>

         <description><![CDATA[<p>As a little boy grows from child to adult, he visits the "Giving Tree" who provides him with something. As the boy gets older, he goes from spending a lot of time with the tree to very little. Nonetheless, the tree always sacrifices herself and gives to the boy out of love and selflessness. This book has many interpretations, one of which telling the message of how love is selfless and unending, always giving and not expecting anything back.</p>]]></description>

Dorothy Vaughan, Mary Jackson, Katherine Johnson, and Christine Darden faced discrimination and hardships in a time of segregation and racial prejudice from the 1940s to the 1960s. This book not only highlights the perseverance and dedication the women had, but also teaches young Black girls that they are capable of doing great things if they push through the obstacles they will face and demand respect for themselves.</p>]]></description>

There are lots of pictures included as well that provide visuals for the reader. Reading this book introduces children to nonfiction books with simple and easy to understand facts that will provide the reader with a basic understanding of polar bears and their amazing abilities.</p>]]></description>
