Quote #3 , the KKK never had the rally at the poultry plant because they didn't like the way the it smelt. It seems like they didn't really care about what was happening, i mean nobody even noticed until they couldn't get a job. I dont see the problem with immigration, nobody wanted those jobs anyways. They kept asking for more and more money , they were becoming greedy so the factories brought in workers that would work for cheap. All the people wanted was to get the work done cheaply but secretly. they didn't want to share things they were getting with the workers they just wanted them to work and feed them.

Quote #2, this one made a lot of since, if you read it and summarize it he is basically teling us that its going to be ugly before it gets better. This qoute gave you hope, something to look forward to when you get to go back home.

It is about accepting difference and creating peace. If more people believed in tolerance and were able to tolerate social issues the world would be more peaceful.

Why or why not?

- I feel as if my past does somewhat affect my future. You were raised a certain way so that will definitely affect they way you feel as you are growing up. Because of all the crime in my past I've always wanted to be a police officer or a fire fighter because of all of our house fires or even a social worker because i know what it feels like to have to keep moving around, home home because they dont want you anymore. "the sting of being alienated, separated from a home, had left its mark on me as well" . i think our family history influences us all.

#2: Healthcare is a major debate in American politics right now. What is Medicare and Medicaid? How do people benefit from these programs? Research and explain the issue with undocumented immigrants and healthcare. You must include information you read from A Home on the Field (121-122).

#3: In Chapter 11, Cuadros says America is not a country, it is an ideal (133). Respond to this statement however you wish

- i agree with cuadros because america has never just been one culture. America is all about freedom which is what everybody wants not just one culture. I remember reading somewhere that america was known as the melting pot. Well if thats the case, it dosent matter if you are different, just because you live in america doesn't mean your american, American isn't something you are, its a belief. America equals freedom, you should have to have documents, just to be free.

What do you think about the way different groups are represented in the media (movies, magazines, TV, news, etc.). Pick two different groups to discuss. The Blacks and whites when it comes to scary movies. I dont like how in most movies the black people are always the first to die basically calling blacks weak and unfit and then the white people always have to trip and break something basically calling them stupid. i also dont like how there is no black princess, i mean now there is but the movie that she plays in is kinda bias.

3.

Some say that immigration is an issue that will define your generation.

1. Do you agree? Why/why not? (1 paragraph)

I kinda do because with the more migrants we have coming over, the bigger our population becomes, which is not bad. More people means more money basically so there more buildings being built which creates more jobs for people. More students coming in which means more schools are being built. migrants are just like you and i, all they want it a life. so they come to america, so yes i believe it will define our generation, but for the better.

2. What is another issue that you think defines your generation? In other words, when you get into your 20s, 30s, and 40s, what issue will be on everyone's minds? (1 paragraph)

I believe Gay rights is still going to be a big issue. No matter what everyone wants equal rights and its not fair that same sex marriage can not get the same thing as opposite sex marriages but its all still love. My moms are married but its not legal in the state of north carolina, so if one of my moms were to pass on or something it would be hard on my other mom because she has no say in whatever happens to her. Gay rights is something people have been fighting for, for years and i believe that fight will continue on until people realize that love is the same no matter what race or gender.

3. Go to someone else's padlet and comment on their choice of issue for #2. Remember to put your name in the subject line for the comments.
love is love...
