Ava Anderson finds a blue pencil in her family's junk drawer, it didn't look special, but on her math test she writes a question on a peace of paper and something weird happens. She hears a voice in her head but no one else heard anything, the voice told her the answer of the question. Later on, Sophie, Ava's friend, use it to help with school. After Ava trust on the pencil grew, the truth reveals about her family and even herself! It lead Ava on an adventure she had never expected to take.

Ava's pencil represent inner-strength. Throughout the story the pencil gave Ava confidence about everyone's secrets and thoughts but sometimes it gave her too much.

Ava learned that she should always be confident and don't be afraid to do anything. The reason why she learned that is because on the obstacle course she was afraid and didn't want to do it but her friends pushed her to do it and made to the end with confidence.

When Ava is going on a obstacle coarse for a field trip, she is afraid. The obstacle coarse represents the trial and error. Ava is scared to mess up and everyone laughs at her but she kept trying and trying and ended up being fine.

The cold weather symbolizes her sadness when she walks home. Sometimes it is sunny when she walking with her friend so it is saying that she is happy but when its cold she alone and sad.

Ava isn't the only person to feels anxious, other people in the world do too! In the world people are always anxious about something there life even if they seem happy. Even if its about a test or quiz. You should never be worried that you are the only one to be scared or afraid because others are probably afraid too.

The external conflict is Ava's mother being sick with breast cancer. Ava wants her mom to feel well and be healthy but its hard when she already has cancer. Ava wishes that her mom feels well soon.

The main internal conflict revolves around Ava dealing with fear. Ava struggles to fight fear when she asked the pencil a question if her mom had any problems with her and when it answered it scared her even more. She begged her mom to go to the hospital to get a check up so she wouldn't die but she still had fear inside of her.
