You are barrelling along!

Don't forget you need images for each principle. Your wall is all nice and orderly, but it doesn't hurt to add "principle #" to each image to to ensure the reader understand what goes with what!

I think your principles 1 and 2 might be more fully distinguished from each other. They cross over on the Baudelairean and Kandinsky-an position that "modern art should be of its own time." You might want to think about that.

I am also thinking about "accessibility." Even in its earliest moments, Cubism, for instance, was criticized as being inaccessible. People simply couldn't understand it. That's a common complaint about all abstract/nonobjective work. And certainly in contemporary terms, I see stuff and I find it abstruse, incomprehensible, resistant.

I bring this up because if you think in traditional terms, art in the post-renaissance tradition WAS very accessible. Everyone knew the stories. Symbolism was used in prescribed and well understood ways. Everyone from the most erudite clergyman to illiterate peasants could understand art being made and it was relevant to all of them. (Some exceptional moments, including Mannerism, but this remained generally true.)

Then, at the dawn of the Realist movement (about the 1840s-50s) artists began to argue that the old religious and classical subjects were incomprehensible and that's why we get that argument for art being of its own moment.
