Taste sensory system. A key concept to remember about the taste system is that it includes three main components the taste buds, the nerve fibers, and the brain. The taste buds are sensory organs which contain the taste receptors cells which detect chemicals in food and drinks. The nerve fibers connect taste buds to the brain. And the brain combines taste signals with smell signals to determine the flavor of the food. Lecture slides: 02/17 lecture slides.
