Nature has always entranced me with a feeling of awe and wonder with its elegance, at the same time it gives me a sense of calmness and comfort with its serenity. To be honest, this is an understatement, for I will never be able to put into words, of how I feel whenever I am in one of these escapades in nature. In the end all that I am sure of is that it gives me bliss and peace of mind, thus I will always love and cherish nature and our planet, the only home we’ll ever know.

As a GEN Z teen who is born digital or categorized as a “Digital Native”, I believe that among the 9 elements of digital citizenship, Digital Literacy is the most important. As a digital native teen we would mostly get our news from the internet or social media, thus being digital literate and being able to differentiate between real and fake news is integral in our lives. This allows us to avoid misconceptions that can negatively impact our beliefs, values, personality, and so on and so forth.

There are many reasons as to why a person would need information, it could be just to stay informed, out of curiosity, or etc. As students we also have many reasons as to why we need information, it could be due to a homework, to learn more about a certain topic, to study, to improve their skills, and many more. I myself, as a student, have also searched for information in order to complete a task. I did this when we had an activity in our 10th grade in which we needed to create a 800 word argumentative essay for our chosen topic. In the past I have experienced being corrected on fake news. I cannot properly recall what the fake news was about, although I do remember it being political. It was a friend of mine who corrected me of the fake news that I shared, at first I couldn't believe it was fake, although as he showed me more and more evidence and facts I started to believe that It was fake. Through the lessons regarding intellectual property rights, I was able to learn more about different property rights laws, differences between a Patent, Trademark, and Copyright, and most importantly I learned of their importance for creators. With this information I now know that respecting the ownership of intellectual property is not only a moral obligation but one that is also a lawful obligation. As such in order to make use of property made by creators while still being able to communicate my own ideas, I could do two things. First if possible, I should contact and ask permission from the owner to use their creation or property for my own work. Second, if I could not contact the owner and still yet decide to use their property for my work, I must provide proper credit, recognition, or the source of the original creation or creator. In this manner I am able to respect the rights of other creates and also effectively communicate my own ideas.

It also opened my eyes to how easy it is to sow mistrust, anxiety, and fear to the public by just simply posting in social media, and how one person has the power to change the course of history itself. Although in the bright side, these games are also a good way to spread information and awareness regarding fake news and the spread of disinformation, as it had done for me. Overall these games are a valuable tool in this modern era as they can be utilized in order to promote digital literacy that would aid us in the fight against fake news.

Additionally, MIL has helped me understand the role that media plays in shaping public opinion and influencing societal norms. These skills and knowledge are important not only in my academic work but also in my personal life, where I can apply them to make informed decisions about important issues that affect me and the world around me.
