In the generation defining song, Will Smith express his experiences in West Philly which has one of the highest violent crime rates. He talks about how he went to be above the average citizen because of some rabble-rousers we causing trouble in his neighbor hood, and how afterwords he was forced from his home due to this incident."When a couple guys who were up to no good started causing trouble in my neighborhood I got into one little fight and my mom got scared." This is showing how the world has became such a messed up place that one small thing scared his mother so much. As well as how he was trying to be a good citizen and in the end paid for it ,a common price for a hero.

Tell Tale Heart

The story known none other than, A Tell-Tale Heart By Edgar Allen Poe, is a story that resonates within my core for it shows the dark truth of humankind. Anyone can be the next person to snap, to lose it, and to take a life for a random and bizarre reason.
People, as seen throughout history, kill each other constantly. Sometimes it is for vital resources, other times it is for our egos, and other times it is for the simple fact that greed is a gene that we all have. Sometimes that gene can be used for self-preservation, but other times it is only for self-pleasure. What is truly shocking, however, are the time's people kill for reasons that don't make justifiable sense. Take religious wars, raids, and massacres for example.
Almost every mainstream religion makes the claim that they are peaceful but then again almost all have a tendency to hate others and even kill other people in the name of their religion. Is killing over a belief justifiable?
How about when people kill those to whom they don't understand, which is portrayed in this very story when the main antagonist in the story kills the old man for no other reason than his deformed eye. Is killing those that we don't understand justifiable?
How about when people kill those who don't live their lives similar to themselves or those who kill because people don't share their economic or political views? Like when people who use communism and others who use capitalism fight. Is killing those with whom we don't share the same idea's with justifiable?
The Tell-Tale Heart is a story of a man who kills another because he is different, not a life or death situation, not because the man had wronged him, not because the man was a danger to anyone, but for the sheer fact that he had a deformity that the killer just didn't understand. He smothered him with a mattress and then buried him under the floorboards.
What is also funny is the fact that the story also captures the man's fear by being threatened by his own "Mocking" heartbeat as the story states.
People are unpredictable and sometimes unethical creatures to whom kill for many reasons. Unfortunately, not all of those reasons are justifiable to everyone and sometimes they kill for reasons that can be seen as disgraceful. What kind of person are you? What kind of people do you affiliate with and interact with? Are you sure, or just maybe, can you be wrong?

“That old wheel”, by Johnny Cash, is a song about karma and patience. As it goes, “And you'll find you'll hurt down in your soul / There'll be those who'll be glad to see you down / But don't give in, that old wheel will roll around again.” The wheel of karma will get revenge for you, just wait; those who wronged you will be wronged, and you will be righted.
