         <title>COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS OF MICROGRAVITY</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<blockquote><strong>Potential applications include fire safety in spacecraft and terrestrial systems, innovative combustor designs for aerospace and ground propulsion systems, sensors and controls for combustion processes, and formation of advanced materials by use of combustion-synthesis processes.</strong></blockquote><div><br>&nbsp;1. <mark>Potential</mark> The story is better than most think. The fundamental benefits of microgravity are significant. The fundamental hypotheses are sound. Products from space have evident superior technical performance. <br><br>2. <mark>Credibility</mark> Skepticism exists but can be addressed. Credibility varies. The successes emerged from the previous NASA investments in microgravity commercialization (spinoffs with ROI) are essential to attract commercial interest. More contemporary examples are needed since the value of the past successes is depreciating in some cases. <br><br>3. <mark>Accessibility &amp; Awareness</mark> Awareness is very low. Unless previously involved with spaceflight, the number of commercial and even academic researchers seeking technical solutions in microgravity is very low. Space is perceived as too high risk for private investors. Accessible information is very low. A public, searchable, dynamically updated, commercial microgravity database is needed for easy access of information and to allow companies to do their own due diligence. <br><br>4. <mark>Interest</mark> The interest is considerable especially when the correct message is sent out. There are very promising areas struggling for funding. There are unexplored areas with great future potential. Providing unrestricted application-relevant (rather than discipline) information is critical for attracting high-tech industry. Exposure to microgravity often leads to disorientation and decreased neuromuscular coordination upon return from prolonged missions.          <description><![CDATA[<div><em>Everyone knows that the farther you get from Earth, the less the gravitational force is. Well, astronauts are so far from the Earth that gravity is so small.<br>In space, astronauts do not walk on the floor like people on Earth do. They float around inside their spacecraft. That is because of microgravity. Microgravity is when things seem to be weightless. "Micro-" means "very small."<br>Microgravity is when the pull of gravity is not very strong. In microgravity, it is easy to move heavy objects.          <title>CAN MICROGRAVITY BE FOUND ON EARTH?</title>

         <description><![CDATA[<div>Microgravity exists in orbit, it can also be found on Earth. NASA uses airplanes to create microgravity for short periods of time. The airplane does this by flying in up-and-down parabolas. At the top of the parabola, people and objects inside the airplane are in free fall for about 20-30 seconds at a time. For the same reasons, a person can even experience free fall very briefly going over a large hill, like on a roller coaster. Microgravity also can be experienced in amusement park free-fall rides. NASA also uses drop towers to study microgravity.
