This book could be used to support the reading development of young readers by helping them to understand oral language that is used by others like slang, accent, and tone. For example the character in the texts addresses how her cousin speaks and also uses pet names like “Honey” which a lot of southerners use on a daily basis. Some readers might not be familiar which such so this book could help them with that.
