Wiley and the Hairy Man

The lesson I learned was that you have to try more than once to get to the final thing you want. When Wiley was trying to trap the hairy man he had to try multiple times. Also I learned that you have to try hard to get want. Wiley and his mom had to do research and studying. They had to work to trap the hairy man. This is a story that explains how it takes hard work to get things you want.

The traditional story that this was based off of was Little red riding hood. They are similar because they have the same characters. They are different because the characters act different. The wolf is a good guy and granny is a crazy sport freak who is crazy. Red is similar to her character because she delivers things to her grandma. She is different then little red riding hood because she isn't scared of the wolf and she is being friends with the wolf.

One thing I noticed when I was writing was that the authors tone changes whenever the character changes. I saw an example of this when the author states in the beginning in the book" I just want to be a normal kid with friends and playing outside and having a good laugh" that has a sad tone because it is showing how Auggie wants to be normal and dosen't want to spend his days in hospitals. The tone really changes when in the end of the year Auggie gets the Beacher Prep Award. Auggie states" Thank you to my amazing class mates for making feel like a normal kid as I may go through hard times I have true friends like Jack Will and Summer to get me through and it made me feel like a normal kid" you can tell how the tone changed because the author makes the attitude or tone happier and more joyful because she wanted to show how he changed. The author purposely showed that his goal in the beginning was completed. By comparing the beginning and the end you can see the difference and the author wants you to know that.

This picture represents how Auggie had to go throw his obstacles one step at a time. Another reason it relates is that he got to his destination of happiness in the end. Just like how the stepping stones help you across the river they helped Augie through struggles.

One other thing I noticed was that in the end of the book he seemed to be so proud of his accomplishments. The end where he gives his speech because he won the Becaher Prep Award, he is talking about how he is grateful for all he accomplished. I know that because in the text it states, "I look back at what I have done and I believe I did make a change in this school" That shows how he believes he has made a change because he has said he has made a change.
