We are planning a trip to Italy this summer and as I tried learning some conversational Italian, he told me everyone there spoke English. It's something of a joke at this point. When he attend a Petit Maternelle in the Lycee American (spelling is probably all wrong) he would take quesadillas for lunch- and no big deal.
