This word has a lot of meaning to it as it represents Charlie and the trails he faced as a kid. This ends up being a long term conflict for Charlie because due to his friends suicide he started keeping to himself because he felt so alone and helpless. Charlie slowly starts to fall in love with Sam but she is a senior and it wouldn't work out because Charlie is a freshman. "I love you." (Chbosky 69). This quote clearly shows that Charlie is in love with Sam.
